Peggy K. Parker

Funeral services for Peggy Kay Parker, 64, Lawrence, will be at 10 am Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, with Celebrant Carmen Hocking officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Peggy died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at her home, surrounded by family.

She was born July 21, 1955, in Lawrence, the daughter of Bob and Ada Hodges Atwell. She attended Jefferson County schools and Perry-Lecompton High School. Peggy worked at Lawrence Laundry for 12 years before beginning work as a custodian at Kansas University, and retired after 29 years of service. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, her dogs, watching westerns, and playing Yahtzee with her grandkids.

She married Harry Lee Parker Sr. on Jan. 21, 1972, in Lecompton. He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 2004. She was also preceded in death by two siblings, Ronald Hollandsworth and Rodney Atwell. Survivors include four children, Robert Dean Parker, Lawrence, Donald James Parker, Phoenix, Michael Ray Parker and wife Salena, Perry, and Larry Wayne White and wife Martha, Van Buren, Ark.; her father, Bob Atwell, California, Mo.; three siblings, Debra Griffith, Pomona, Marsha Petral, Topeka, and Curtis Atwell, California, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Alicia, Mikey, Christopher, Bryna, Steven, Raylin, and Remington; her special friend, Walter Maddox, and her dog, B.B.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Lawrence Humane Society, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
