David Jerry Duersch

David “Dave” J. Duersch, 78, passed away on April 12, 2020, at his home.

He was born November 2, 1941, in Driggs, Idaho, to David Duersch and Lucile M. (Dagsen) (Duersch) Davis.

Dave started his military career with the Army at a young age and served his country for over twenty years. This included two tours to Vietnam. He married Karin M. (Camen) Deursch in Germany where they met while he was stationed there. They later divorced. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2008. With this union they raised and are survived by four children: Kay (Chris) Strout; Pat (Mario) Argueta; Yvonne (Ben) Rapp, all of Lawrence, and David Jr (Elaine) Deursch of Virginia. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and six of eight brothers and sisters. He later married Paula (Rockhold) Duersch who also preceded him in death on April 12, 2004.

Dave lived his life on his own terms, but would help anyone in need.

A private burial service will be held at the Leavenworth National Cemetery and the family is planning a celebration of life for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Douglas County VNA Hospice, LMH Oncology, VFW Post 852, or to a charity of your choice.
