William T. “Bill” Finch, 71, Lawrence, died May 29, 2021, at LMH Health.
He was born December 25, 1949, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Clifford Edwin and Vesta Florence Owen Finch. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1968. He then attended Mt. St. Clare College.
Bill enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served during the Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge in November 1971. He then attended Clinton Community College.
Mr. Finch retired in 2011 from the Alliant Power Company in Clinton after over 30 years.
He enjoyed family & friends and rejoiced in the love and memories. His favorite hobbies were wood working, hunting, collecting coins, stamps, rocks, and other treasures. He was known for his generosity.
He is survived by a daughter, Elissa Lenore Finch of Santa Ana, California; sister, Margaret Smith and husband David of Lawrence, Kansas; and nephew, Joseph Gary Smith and wife Nicole Brusewitz of Longmont, Colorado.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, PO Box 1260, Lawrence, KS 66044.
I had the pleasure of getting to know “Creamy” Bill when I attended Clinton Community College with him! We always had so much fun, especially on our bus trip to Chicago with the art class! It still makes me smile!
We are so sad to hear about Bill’s passing. I got to know Bill through my mother-in-law, Donna,who lilves at Monterey Village. Bill was always friendly and kind. He could be found sitting outside, visiting with others. He will be missed.
Bill was a good friend of ours for many years even when we haven’t talked in a long time his daughter Elli played with my daughter BobbiJo as children he was a such a kind sole. We will miss him dearly sincerely Babs and Toni (Chris and Annette Babcock

Am saddened to find that we lost our Bill Finch . Such a kind and generous man . I got the pleasure of
Meeting him at Monterey Village where we enjoyed talking about food and the goings on in and around “the village”.
He will be very missed !

Words cannot express how sorry I was to hear about Bill’s passing. I’m so blessed to have had the experience of getting to know Bill over the past 2 years! He will surely be missed by all who knew him! May he Rest In Peace.
