
Graveside services for Thomas Riley ‘Sonny’ Dolan Jr., 75, Lawrence, will be 11 am, Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6-7 pm, Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
Thomas “Sonny” Riley Dolan Jr, 75 passed away April 9 2022 in Lawrence Kansas.
Sonny was born on February 24, 1947, to Thomas R. and Delores A. Dolan in Lawrence Kansas. While in high school, Sonny enjoyed participating in gymnastics. He also worked for the Lawrence Journal World inserting ads into the newspaper. After graduating from Lawrence High School in 1965, Sonny went on to serve in the US Army.
On January 9 1980 Sonny was united in marriage to Jo Ann Horner in a ceremony in Oskaloosa, Kansas.
Sonny owned and operated North Side Antiques and Auction Service, located in North Lawrence for over 17 years.
After retiring, Sonny spent his time acquiring rental properties and enjoyed maintaining them as well as meeting those who would become his tenants. Those who knew Sonny, will remember that after a good visit with friends and family, he would leave with a smile and the phrase “Glad you got see me,” and we always were.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother Monte Reed Dolan, a grandson Tucker Dolan, and his wife Jo Ann Dolan.
He is survived by his sister Deborah Skeet, (Billy) of Tonganoxie, Kansas, son Thomas “Tommy” Dolan III, (Trish), of Topeka, Kansas, stepsons William Haas (Sinthia) of Lawrence, Kansas, Mike Muilenburg (Valerie) of Salina, Kansas, and six grandchildren
Visitation will be held at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence Kansas on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, from 6:00-7:00 pm. Graveside service will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at 11:00 am on Thursday April 14 2022.
The family suggests memorial contributions go to Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. The family will be donating to an Alzheimer’s foundation at a later time.
Sonny will be missed by many. His happy personality was contagious to all those who took the time to speak with him.

My heart breaks for you all. I have only a few memories meeting Sonny. My favorite was Tommy’s graduation. The 3 generations of Dolan men are very strong, determined & talented men.
