Catherine Estelle Warren passed away peacefully in her home on Feb. 15th, 2023 in Overbrook, KS at the age of 86. She was born Sept 11th of 1936, in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of Nelle Jacobsen Saunders and Harold Keith Saunders.
Catherine is survived by her children, Peggy Warren, Overbook, KS, Brenda Cordts, Lenexa, KS, Kelly Coleman (Bret), Lecompton, KS, as well as grandchildren, Bridgett Reed (Nate), Marissa Mauszycki (Nick), Cameron Coleman (Montana), Cory Coleman, and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Warren, Overbrook, KS, daughter Cynthia Harris, Russel, KS, brother Charles Saunders, Leavenworth, KS, and parents Nelle and Harold Saunders of Lawrence, KS.
Catherine completed one year at Emporia State University. Catherine soon after met and married, Gerald Warren in 1956 while working at an insurance company. She then started her career at Hallmark Cards Incorporated. Over six years, she gave birth to four children (all girls) and took time off from Hallmark to raise them and provide them with love and guidance in becoming the amazing ladies they are today. After the birth of her last child, she returned to Hallmark and retired with 33 years in 1998.
Catherine was a kind, generous, loving, and crafty individual who loved sharing with her daughters and many more the art of embroidery, quilting, counted cross-stitch, and her love of flowers and gardening. She was also a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, the Betty Washington Chapter.
The visitation is scheduled for Saturday Feb. 18th, at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence, KS. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Catherine’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Treasurer General, NSDAR, 1776 D Street NW, Washington DC, 2006. Sorry to hear about Catherine. I worked with her at Hallmark. She talked fondly of her girls and grandchildren. I am still enjoying the flowering bush that she gave me.

I worked with Catherine for many years at Hallmarks. Such a kind lady . I always enjoyed hearing about her flowers. I am sorry for the loss of your mom.

Catherine was a loving person and so talented in whatever she was working on. She was also a good friend. She knew the names of the Iris’s in her flower garden. She would do embroidery,
and would give what she was making to people that she knew would like them
