Betty J. McArdle

Betty J. McArdle, 75, passed away at her home in Lawrence, KS, surrounded by family on December 15, 2022.  Graveside Services will be held at 11:30AM on Saturday May 20, 2023, at the St Boniface Catholic Cemetery, 32314 NE Norton Rd, Garnett, KS 66032.

Betty was born May 24,1947, in Garnett, KS, the daughter of Fred and Hilda Pickert. She graduated from Garnett High School in 1965, she married John McArdle December 10, 1966. Since 1998 she has lived in Lawrence, KS where she worked as a secretary for KU Endowment.

Survivors include her husband of the home John McArdle, a daughter Terri Atwood of Lawrence, Kansas, a son Brian McArdle of Shawnee, Kansas, a sister Rosalie Waner of Lawrence, Kansas, two brothers Gerald Pickert and his wife Carol of Richmond, Kansas, Leon Pickert and his wife Lynn of Lawrence, Kansas, two grandchildren Megan Atwood and Adrianna High, three great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials in Betty’s name to Douglas County Visiting Nurses.

I’m so sorry to hear about Betty’s death. We were good friends when we both worked at Kansas University Endowment. I always appreciated her good nature and her humor. With Covid and family responsibilities, I didn’t keep in touch with her, and I regret that. My condolences to her family. Please let me know when services will be held.
