William Herman Bruening, Sr passed away on March 8, 2024 at St Francis (KU Health System Campus) Hospital in Topeka, Ks.
Bill was born on Oct. 16, 1938 at Los Angeles General Hospital, L.A., CA to Ervin & Thelma (Conlee) Bruening of Hermosa Beach, CA.
Bill enjoyed growing up around Redondo Beach & the L.A. area, telling many stories of beach adventures with family & friends.
On Nov 4, 1955 Bill joined the Air Force, serving his country for almost 3 years. He was honorably discharged & released from active military duty at Hamilton Air Force base, CA on July 31, 1958.
Bill had worked for the City in Sanitation, moving on to Landscape, helping to beautify the City of Lawrence. Upon retirement, he worked for Jack Reed at Kaw Valley, continuing his passion in landscaping.
Bill leaves to mourn his passing a loving grandson, Jonathan William Bruening of Lawrence.
Cremation is planned and no services are planned at this time.
