Dear Linda, Geoff, and Nick,
Steve and I are so sad to learn about Don’s long illness and his recent passing. He was a wonderful man, and he was such a proud husband and father. We send our love to you all.

Linda, I am so sorry to learn of Don’s death. You may remember that Don and I were in the same law school class. I remember his dry wit, his keen mind and his generous nature. He truly was one of the good guys.
Linda, Geoff, and Nick: I count myself among the blessed who got a chance to work with Don and become what I considered part of your amazing family during my tenure at KU. I also agree that the Lawrence community lost a brilliant legal mind who always fought hard for the underdog. I hate that I lost touch with your family but want you to know you never left my mind. I am forever indebted to Don for being an amazing mentor who took a chance on a broke college student and framed my career path. His teachings remain forever in my head, and I use them regularly as I mentor new attorneys. “Did you read the statute?” will forever be a favorite lesson. I have no doubt Don is keeping an eye out for us all from above. I’m sure Lacey, Barkley, and all of his loved ones greeted him with love as he escaped his physical burdens and walked through the pearly gates of Heaven. Hugs to you all!
Dear Geoff and family-
So very sorry for the loss of your father.
What a great support system he had and so very blessed to survive.
Prayers as you journey on through these next few weeks/ years missing him

My most sincere & deepest condolences Linda, Geoff, Cindy & Nick & Leigh.
What a perfect picture of Don! It really captures that awesome, cool dude he was and that I have always been honored to proclaim that I got to work for at the law office.
Don was one of the greatest men ever. Truly. Working for him was never dull. His smile & wit always lit up the office. I learned SO much from him.
Fly high Don Strole. You always were remarkable on this earth, and I have no doubt you will be having a ball in the heavens, with God, watching over everyone. 🙏🏻✨
Sending much love to Linda, Geoff, Nick and family. That is such a great photo of Don that represents his good nature and kindness. There are so many good memories with Don and his family. They were like my Lawrence family while I attended KU and I appreciated them all so much. Don said he hired me to work at his law office, because I was the only video department cashier at Dillon’s that made him pay his late fees before he could rent another movie. Ha ha!
So many other good memories babysitting his kids and hanging out with Linda.
Thinking of you all and sending big hugs.

From all the years of your marriage, I know you have many good memories that will sustain you in the years to come. You were a wonderful and compassionate caregiver and Don was very fortunate to have had you as hie wife
Take care and I’ll continue to be in touch.
Dianne
Linda and family, My deepest condolences to you and the family. I was one Don’s interns over 20 years ago. Don was a great lawyer and teacher. He was so smart, persistent and courageous. I learned a lot from him and the community of Lawrence is better for having had him in it. Sending love, Erin
Don is a lucky man. He has a great wife who cared for him for so well for so long. Geoff and Nick are great sons. Even though he endured more suffering than anyone I have ever known he stayed witty and kept his great big smile. Don’s legal expertise helped many who had nowhere else to turn for help. The standard Don set on how to live life we could do well to try and emulate. My sincere condolences and for Linda,Geoff, and Nick.
My condolences on Dons passing.
Our deepest condolences in the loss of Don. Our hearts are with you and your family and we are sending our love and prayers.
I’m sorry to hear of Don’s death. We worked together, he as pro-bono counsel, in environmental causes in the 1980s and 90s. My condolences to the family. Rest in peace, Don.
