Arrangements are currently pending for Brian Eliscu Sulkis, age 77 of Lawrence, under the direction of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
Brian was one of The funniest people I ever met. He was endlessly curious and full of stories, even during his last days. He will be terribly missed.
Brian was a larger-than-life figure who lived life with utter enthusiasm. He had so many great stories, many added during his time acting as a chauffeur to authors on book tours visiting the SF bay area. Dining was one of his greatest pleasures, and not highbrow dining, either. Lowbrow was fine. He approached each meal out with gusto, and treated the servers with great courtesy. He was a good friend of my husband’s and I first met him in San Francisco around 1980 when we met him at the Clement St. bar Zhivago’s where he introduced us to his new girlfriend and later wife. We were excited to have him move back to Kansas, and were saddened when he developed a cancer similar to my husband’s. They both shared an infusion room last fall at LMH getting the dose of toxins which they hoped would prolong their lives.
He was a kind soul with a big heart. RIP
