Messages & Condolences
From Suzanne Lange...
Interesting that Michele Love, one of my husband’s daughters, neglected to mention that Doug is survived by his wife of 27 years, Dr. Suzanne Lange, who remains in the home. “Sharper than a serpent’s tooth are the words of an ungrateful child.” Doug loved to travel and made three trips to Israel with Suzanne. His most favorite memory from these trips is the visit to a secret ammunition facility under a laundry and bakery during Israel’s war for independence. He enjoyed riding a camel, eating at Masaryk’s restaurant, and walking the Christian pathways as well as the Jewish. He was a loving husband and much appreciated. Doug was cared for by Hospice and Suzanne during his last days at home. He was one a kind and gentle man who gave his love to any who would accept.
From Shelby...
Doug was a regular customer at my T-Mobile store. We all loved him so much!
He called me jayhawk hair from a time when my hair was blue and pink.
It was such a happy moment every time he walked through the doors! We all greeted him with yelling his name and smiles and would just hang out and talk for a while. Talk about life and KU sports, just whatever. We were always just so happy to have him to bring smiles and laughter to all of us.
We will all miss him so much.
From all of us at T-Mobile on Iowa Street- we love you Doug!
From Jeff Smith...
I have been mowing Doug’s yard for about four years. He reached out to me while I was mowing in his neighborhood. Little did he or I realize at the time that I had mowed his ex-wife, Jan Vickers, for many years before she moved to Overland Park. I enjoyed our weekly conversations during the growing season the past four years. He always wanted to know about my take on the latest KU football and basketball news. He was always kind and appreciative of the job my wife and I did on his yard. We will cherish our visits with him as we reflect on our friendship.
