Jacob Ryan Torneden, 36, of Lawrence, Kansas died at home Tuesday, February 3rd. Jacob was born August 22nd, 1989 to Darren Torneden and Donita Beers at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Jacob enjoyed being out in nature and spending time with friends, family, and his cat, Ron. Jacob brought light wherever he went, frequently attracting laughs of children and connecting with animals.
Jacob was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wallace and Lillie McGee, Carl and Stanett Torneden and cousins, Crystal Torneden and Nicole Sajkowski.
He is survived by his parents, Darren Torneden (Sally Martin) and Donita Beers (Daron Beers), and siblings, Dacia, Tanner, Austin, and Courtney.
Memorial Services will be Sunday, February 15th at 11 a.m. at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be sent to the Lawrence Humane Society.

Jacob and I met through my sister when he and his family moved in up the street from us. Immediately I felt as if Id found the older brother I was meant to have. We lost touch over the years as many do but when I saw him again it felt like nothing had changed. He was still the older brother I wanted to tag along with just back he was …… Him. When my sister tells me how much he showed up for her and her boys it puts a smile on my face because I couldn’t be there but I knew full heartedly that they were safe because Jacob was there. I wish I’d been closer, wished Id reached out more.
I am so sorry and I wish you all the best. I wish I’d been strong enough to share this at the funeral.
