Kimberly Kay (McCoy) Wren, 62, of Lawrence, KS, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026. She was born on October 31, 1963 in Clayton, GA, to Mary Alice (Lee) McCoy and William “Bill” Ellis McCoy, later raised by her step-father Erwin Hilscher.
Kimberly was a hardworking, loving, generous and accepting person. She was quick to help, always ready to look out for her family and loved ones. She was kind, caring and inviting, surrounded by many who would call her family and friend. She was a wonderful mother who enjoyed being with her family and holding her girls every chance she had.
Kimberly was preceded in death by her father, William “Bill” Ellis McCoy; mother and step-father Mary Alice (Lee, McCoy) and Erwin Hilscher; brother, Billy Wayne “Butch” Long; sister, Ruth Ann Woolsey; and her nephew, Brandin McCoy.
Surviving are her daughters, Jessica (Joseph) Abbott and Taylor Breyann Wren; grandchildren Collin, Kynzington and Avery; her sister Alice Marie Lyming, brother Grant McCoy, sisters Sherry Lynn McCoy and Mary Hutchens; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her viewing will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 1-2 p.m. and services will follow after from 2-3 p.m. at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044. Flowers and donations towards funeral expenses are welcome.
