Wendy Ann Stauffer passed away on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026 , in Lawrence, Kansas. Wendy was born on July 19th, 1955, in Lawrence to James and Carolyn Hemphill. She graduated from Lawrence High in 1973 and received her Nursing degree from Pittsburg State. Wendy worked at Lawrence Urology for over 20 years before retiring. On January 4, 1984, she married Ron Stauffer, and together they raised their family. Through the years, she enjoyed summer swim parties at her parent’s home, dancing, traveling, Friday happy hours,and spending time with family especially her grandchildren. Wendy is survived by her husband, Ron and their son Ryan, both of Lawrence, and her daughter, Anna van Haandel (Leon) and grandchildren, Jasper and Sydney of Lake Villa, Illinois. She is also survived by her mother, Carolyn Hemphill, sisters Gretchen Windholz (Tim) and Jennifer Hemphill, nieces, Heidi Webb (Jamie and Milo), Hannah Windholz, and nephew James Windholz, all from Lawrence. She is preceded in death by her father and stepdaughter Barbara Stauffer. A family celebration will take place. She will be missed.
