A Celebration of Life for Tamela (Tammy) Jacqueline Self, 54, of Lawrence, KS, will be at 3 PM Friday June 19, 2026, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana Street, Lawrence KS, 66044.
Tammy Self died Monday, May 25, 2026, in her home in Lawrence, KS.
She was born March 13, 1972, in Kingman, KS. She was the daughter of Keith and Karon Self. She graduated from Greensburg High School, Greensburg, KS, in 1990. In 1997 she obtained her nursing degree from Pratt Community College.
Tammy worked as a nurse for many years in the OBGYN department at Pratt Regional Hospital in Pratt, KS. She loved helping expectant mothers and taking care of newborn babies. She later volunteered for the Red Cross in Hutchinson, KS, often traveling to areas impacted by tornadoes. Tammy moved to Lawrence, KS in 2018. She enjoyed gardening, coloring, painting, creating original artwork, spending time with her beloved dog, Mochi, and singing and acting silly. She always stood up for what she believed in. Tammy’s caring nature affected many lives and she will be greatly missed.
Tammy is survived by her parents, Keith (Sr.) and Karon Self of Lawrence, KS; daughter, Maci Lawrence of Eudora, KS; siblings: Keith Self Jr. (wife Chris) of Lawrence, KS, Christopher Self of Topeka, KS, Joshua Self of Kansas City, KS; nephews Kayden Self and Jesse Self and niece, Melia Self of Lawrence, KS; grandson, Brady Lawrence of Eudora, KS.
Any contributions can be made to Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home; all proceeds will be used for the Celebration of Life and cremation.
