Jacquelyn (Jackie) Ann Creel past Sunday July 19, 2026, in her home surrounded by her wife and grandkids. A devoted wife, loving grandmother, and cherished friend a legacy of kindness, faith, laughter, and unwavering love for her family.
Jackie was born Aug. 13, 1949, to William Erby Creel of Marion, AL and Virginia Mae Thrasher of Kansas City, MO. She is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Nancy unkown and Debbie White. Both her parents and loved Grandparents, she will be cremated and celebration of life will be at Holcom Park Recreational Center.
As a young women Jackie dedicated many years of her life serving others. As a young woman, she answered a calling to religious life and became a nun. Serving in convents both in, Montgomery, Alabama and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During her years in the convent, she taught music to upper grades men. Sharing her passion for music and inspiring countless students. Her Pittsburgh convent also had the very special honor of leading the team players in prayer before Pittsburgh Steelers games. After the prayers they would all gather around the TV to continue with their support. A tradition that made her lifelong love for the Steelers. Even more meaningful after leaving religious life. Jackie built a career working at call centers. Where she remained until her retirement. She was known for her warm personality, patience and the ability to connect with anyone she met. When Jackie later made Kansas her home, she never lost her Pittsburgh roots. She remained a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan, proudly cheering on her favorite team every season.
More than anything, Jackie will be remembered for her gift she had with people. Her family often said she ” Could make a rock talk.” A testament, to her remarkable ability to strike up a conversation making others feel welcome and turn strangers into friends. Her warmth, humor, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Jackie will be deeply missed by her loving family, friends and all whose lives she toughed. Her faith, compassion and joyful spirit will continue to liv on in the hearts of those who loved her.
May she rest in eternal peace.
A Celebration of Life for Jackie will be from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Holcom Park in the Bly Room in Lawrence.
I’ll always remember Jackie’s big smile, humorous stories, and our various conversations. She loved to visit and talk about her grandchildren. Jackie will be greatly missed. She lives on in the hearts of those she loved and cherished.
Jackie has given so many smiles. I loved her strong, generous, kind, helpful, and loving presence. Wanda I’m so very sorry for you, your family and friend’s great loss. May you find comfort in your many memories. RIP Jackie you are so loved.

So sorry to hear of Jackie’s passing. She and Wanda have been wonderful neighbors for nearly ten years, and she will be missed by many. RIP Jackie.
