I grew up knowing Grace, not only from the AOG church at 13th and Massachusetts Street, in Lawrence, KS, but she was a good friend of my mothers, and prayer partner.
My heart goes out to her family with condolences and prayers. Embrace the memories, things no one can steal, but can bring much joy when sadness tries to sit in.
Spent many years growing up in the Meuffels home, many great memories, Louie and Grace were so wonderful to me, I’m so sorry Mike for your loss, sending prayers and hugs!
I first met “Gracie”, as we called her, at The Sirloin in north Lawrence way back in the early 70’s. It was my first real job bussing tables. All of us young girls bussing tables were protected by three strong waitresses, Grandma, Gracie and Loretta. Gracie taught us so much about people, our job and made us feel proud. She cared about everyone! The owner, her coworkers, the kitchen staff, and the customers. She knew everyone’s names and that is why I believe she was one of the nicest people I have met. It was a blessing for me to have known her. I feel your loss.
Grace was a kind and loving lady and a wonderful neighbor. One year on a very icy cold Christmas eve, I had no funds to buy gifts for my kids and Grace gave me her bank card so I could go get what I needed for my kids Christmas. I repaid her asap and I will always treasure how caring she always was to my little ones. I will always remember and how much she loved her family.
Jere, our kids and I are sad to learn of Grace’s passing. We want to let the family know we offer our deepest condolences. Grace was an amazingly special woman. Our kids used to call her grandma Grace as her and our grandma Hazel were good friends. Grace will be truly missed by all. May she rest in heavenly peace.
