I am sad that my friend has gone. He is in a better place. This world was hard on him, but he fought to just finish each day. Doug was not an eloquent man. He had demons…as we all do. But, he would be there for his friends. He was gregarious and loud. He always enjoyed a good joke and laughed with his whole heart. He worked hard at every job. From his daily construction duties with B.A. Green to rebuilding an engine for his vehicle, Doug dedicated himself to doing a good job….A craftsman. He struggled with many things before his passing, but he was always a dedicated friend. He was the founding father of “Royals Row.” If you know? Then you know. He was a proud grandfather….once he found out. *wink* I’m simple here to share my thoughts and express my love for a departed friend. Rest my brother… it’s okay. Everything will be fine. God Bless.
I remember many fun times singing in the car, fixing him supper, talking about his past (sometimes sad), eating pad thai, watching how much he enjoyed frying fish for everyone, fish he had caught, he so loved fishing! Showing me places that he had a hand in building and on several occasions mentioning some steps he had done that he was especially proud of! Enjoying great seats at a Royals game. The unconditional love he had for his dad. Staying at his mom’s house one weekend. Watching him dance in his funny way. Enjoy that beautiful place called Heaven, I know you are there.. Gone way too soon.
Doug was a loving and bountiful soul with a larger-than-life persona. His energy and presence were infectious. He possessed an unrelenting fervor for baseball, fishing, friends, and life. He was a devoted son to his father whom he cared for until his passing, equally sincere and available friend, and a proud father/grandfather. I met Doug when I was a 21 year old kid, he believed in and saw something within me before I saw it myself. Anyone would have been lucky to have a friend like Doug. He will always be a part of my heart and mind.
