Vernon Lee “Buck” Cheek, 80, of Warsaw, MO, passed away on May 6, 2026, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.
Buck was born on October 28, 1945, in Brookfield, MO, to Earl and Margaret Cheek. He spent many years working at Quaker Oats, beginning in 1964 and remaining there until his retirement.
Buck is survived by his son, Wade Cheek; daughter, Regina Martin; sister, Martha Engnehl of Lawrence; brother, Randy (Cindy) Cheek of Lawrence; sister-in-law, Carol Cheek of Lawrence, Kansas; three grandchildren, Jessica, Briana, and Jarod; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Judy Cheek; and his brother, Michael Cheek.
In his younger years, Buck enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting guns. Later in life, he found joy in attending auctions, playing bingo, spending time with friends, and especially enjoying the companionship of his beloved dog, Pooper Scooper.
Buck will be remembered for his love of family, his friendships, and the simple joys that brought happiness to his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date.

I have known Buck since he was 18 and the whole family. he was a great fun guy, will be missed. Sorrow to the family!
