Douglas “Doug” L. Mole

Douglas “Doug” L. Mole, 59, of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away on July 31, 2026.

Born and raised in Lawrence, Doug was a true original. He lived life on his own terms, valued his independence, and never felt the need to be the loudest person in the room to make an impression. Beneath his tough exterior was a man with a generous heart, quick wit, and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved.

Doug is survived by his wife, Lori Reimers; his daughters, Dara Sailler, Melissa Eye, and Rebecca Mole; and his grandchildren, Peyton Eye, Klaire Baskins, Hartley West, and Kai Sailler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ron and Linda Mole.

Doug spent over 3 decades with the Lawrence-Douglas County Housing Authority before retiring in 2022 as Director of Maintenance.

Doug was happiest when he was casting a line into the water, hunting for morel mushrooms, cooking, playing poker, and riding his Harley-Davidson down an open Kansas road. He wasn’t interested in attention or recognition. He found happiness in simple moments.

More than anything, Doug loved his family. He was proud of his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, and treasured the time he spent with them.

Those who knew Doug will remember his unmistakable smile, sharp sense of humor, and his generous heart. He could make people laugh when they least expected it and was always willing to lend a hand. Streetwise, practical, and resourceful, he was the kind of man who could solve a problem, fix what was broken, and help someone in need without asking for anything in return. He enjoyed sharing what he had with others and never expected anything back. His family and friends will cherish the memories, laughter, and good times they shared with him.

A visitation will be held at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana Street, Lawrence, Kansas 66044.  6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
