Graveside services for Cecil Lloyd Miller Jr., 64, Topeka, will be 2 pm, Tuesday, February 9th, 2016, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, KS. He died Thursday, February 4th, 2016 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS.
Cecil was born February 1st, 1952 in Lawrence Kansas the son of Cecil Lloyd Sr. and Sarah Valentine Faler. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1970. Cecil was a computer programmer most of his life. Working at many different companies over the years; lastly being the Kansas Department of Corrections where he retired in 2014. Before becoming a programmer he worked for the Lawrence Paper Company, Gibson’s, and Simmon’s Guns.
Cecil will be remembered for his hearty laugh and for the expected event of him spontaneously singing a favorite country western ballad without an ounce of tepidness to quell his booming voice. He was an avid sportsman and firearm enthusiast. Cecil could always be expected as a vendor at local gun shows and always came with his headband magnifier so that he could carefully examine items that piqued his interest and to provide careful assessments for those who asked it of him. Cecil also loved to read and could often be found on his recliner enjoying books of the military thriller or western adventure categories. Cecil instilled both his love of reading and singing to his daughters and it will be one of his many lasting legacies.
Cecil married Annie Olano on June 18th, 2005 she survives of the home. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Angelo, parents, and siblings Amerette and Beverly. Survivors include two daughters, Jenny Ikenberry of Lawrence and Julie Rodgers of Olathe; three sisters Brenda Bissey, Carole Cassity, and Cathy Wales all of Lawrence; and three grandchildren Ezra Ikenberry, Scarlett Rodgers, and Nora Rodgers.
A visitation will take place on Monday, February 8th, 2016 from 6-7 pm at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana Street Lawrence, KS 66044.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Midland Hospice House, sent in care of the funeral home.

Carole,
Please accept my condolences.
Annie, what a great person to call a true friend would be Cecil. I am the guy he asked every time we would meet–Did you bring me any horns??—Sorry for your loss–Fred

Annie and family,
Our hearts are broken, but I will forever remember the great friend I had in Cecil. Fun times in our younger days of hunting squirrels and rabbits, and camping on the river. Cecil shared with me his love and knowledge of firearms. Best friends – life may have separated us from time to time, but we just picked up that friendship as though we were never apart. All who knew Cecil will never forget what he brought to their lives. May God give Cecil a Skeet’s, a Brother Bray’s, and the fields of Kensington, in eternity. Donna, the boys and I send our sincere sympathy. My friend, you will be truly missed. ~Roger
Our days on the River shooting guns, singing Karaoke til the wee hrs and talking about favorite John Wayne movies will never be forgotten.I will see you on the other side.
Life is too short; and, Cecil’s is no exception. My regret is that it took so long to know that we could be friends. Maybe, we will get to take off, from where we left off, when we meet on the other side. Although the words were never said, the actions said it all … forgiveness, friendship, and laughter.
I wish your family the peace that you now have. Praying that at this time they find comfort in one another.
May God bless.
Seymour

So sorry to hear of Cecil’s passing . He was a very fun guy to hang out with growing up !I would go to the river and shoot guns with my brothers and him ! He taught me to shoot my first and only handgun( a 45 magnum )! He was my brother Roger’s best friend ! Cecil you will be missed ! Annie, so sorry for your loss , you are in my thoughts .
To Annie, I am so sorry for your loss. Cecil was one of the few friends I have from work and I don’t usually associate with people from work. I was hoping his condition would improve enough to spend much more time with both of you. I am glad to have spent the Sunday afternoon with him watching a Chiefs football game a while back when he was feeling good. You were wanting to go out looking for a car. Annie, not on a Sunday most auto dealers are closed on that day. I hope and know Cecil’s family members will take good care of you. Cecil had a picture of you and him on his work computer screen. I will go to work tomorrow and get this off his computer for you.
Sorrowfully yours,
Mike Meyer
