Roberta Julene (Reeves) Tedlock, loving wife, mother and grandmother, was called home by our merciful Lord on October 22, 2018.
Born January 4, 1935 to Fern Orilla (Rowley) and Clarence Maynard Reeves in Wichita, Kansas, Roberta attended Wichita public schools and graduated from Wichita High School North. She was a valedictorian of the class of 1952 and took classes at Wichita State University.
Roberta married her high school sweetheart, Richard Dean Tedlock, on June 7, 1953. They enjoyed many adventures with friends and family, and made their home in many different locations from Wichita to Amarillo, TX, Salinas, CA, Tulsa, OK, back to Wichita and then to Chicago, IL and Creston, IA. They retired in Lawrence to be close to their children, Rowley (Cindy) and Julene Miller (Jim).
In addition to being a wife and mother of two, Roberta was a career girl, working in many different environments including KG&E, Sears and St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, and the University of Kansas Department of Special Education in Lawrence. She was also an active member of her church, having served several years as a deacon.
Survivors include Richard, of the home, Rowley, Julene, seven grandchildren (Angela, Evan, April, Jake, Wesley, Shelby and Briahna) and two great grandchildren (Raya and Riley). Roberta was pre-deceased by her parents and a sister, Ramona Lowene Kraft.
The family suggests memorials to Bridge Haven Memory Care or Lawrence First Presbyterian Church, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
No public services are planned.
I was sorry to hear of Ms. Tedlock’s (sorry old habit) passing. She was a wonderful woman, and a great mother to my friends Rowley and Julene.

Dick and family: We are sorry to hear of Roberta’s passing. We have many happy memories of the two of you and the kids here in Wichita.
I have fond memories of Roberta from North High School. My sympathy to her family.
Dick and family, You have our most sincere sympathy at this difficult time. Roberta and I became friends at North High many years ago. She was always a joy to be around. We spent many evenings at each others homes, sharing the events of high school life. Roberta was a kind and loyal person and it was a blessing to have her for a friend.
Richard and Family, I wish to express my deepest condolences. She was a special and giving student at North High. All are blessed to have known her and to have wonderful memories to treasure.
Blessings from a fellow North High graduate. Also, a Lawrence resident.
Richard and family, we are very sorry for your loss. What a great girl she was, honest, kind, sharing and a great representative of good old North high. Marlene and I both recall walkng the halls of North and Roberta’s quick smile and friendly greeting. Richard, if you are ever in the vicinity of Winfield Ks and can spare some time call us. 620-221-6021. Marlene and Harold Shapley.
Dick, I’m sorry I didn’t get to know Roberta early on. She had such a sweet disposition, beautiful twinkling eyes, and I enjoyed holding those soft hands! I could tell she was quite witty as well and delighted to see you always–even if she would go to sleep during your visits.
I’m sorry for the loss of your dear wife and am praying for your comfort!
