Ladonna Rae Lickteig, 79, of Lawrence, was born October 11, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas. She passed away peacefully at her home on May 23, 2025 surrounded by family.
She was an avid bird lover and belonged to an elite bird club. She loved planting flowers and watching hummingbirds.
She is survived by three children, Danita McPherson, Thomas McPherson, Timothy McPherson and her very best friend, ViAnn (bestie) Deathe. She also leaves behind grandchildren and great grandchildren who will forever carry her strength in their hearts.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday, May 30, 2025 at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. A visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the funeral home.
This message comes as a complete surprise and evokes many fond memories.
I traveled across America with the APWS and some Belgian friends, participating in several conventions with Ladonna.
She was a guitarsmith and entertainer, and her antics were hard to match.
She wiil be greatly missed by her loved ones and the APWS.
I will continue to cherish the great memories.
Ron and I lived on Red Ribbon Acres at 1055 & 458. LaDonna and I shared the love of birds /animals. She will be missed by so many. RIP LaDonna-
Ray and I met LaDonna and Vic 30 years ago when we were building our home near them. Both were special. I will always remember Clyde the Camel and the annual picnics they had. LaDonna was a unique individual with a heart of gold for those who needed her help. So very sorry for her family’s loss.

Aunt Ladonna you were definitely one of a kind. If you see Edna while you’re there tell her hi from us all we miss her and Uncle Vick a lot. Now you’re on your journey and I hope you do well.
