Albert Jones

A memorial mass for Albert Jones, 72, Lawrence, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, at St. John the Evangelist Church.

Mr. Jones died Sunday, November 10, 2019, at LMH Health.

He was born September 1, 1947, in Ganado, Arizona. After graduating high school, he moved to Lawrence in 1968 where he earned a degree from Haskell University.

Mr. Jones worked for Haskell University for over 30 years in food service, and for 28 years working as a part time cook for Gamma Phi Beta at the University of Kansas. He enjoyed golfing, watching his grandchildren play sports, baking for family and friends, and playing in the Duffer’s golf league at the Orchards golf course.

He married Juanita Claudia Herrera on September 5, 1970 in Cochiti, Pueblo, New Mexico. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include four children, Michael Jones of Lawrence, Cheryl Cahwee and husband Brent, of Lawrence, Matthew Jones and wife Kim of Lawrence, Carrie Jones of Lawrence; brothers and sisters in Arizona; grandchildren, Brent, Moises, Kassidi, Caylor, Jocelyn, AJ, and Devin.

A visitation with the family will start at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, at St. John the Evangelist Church, and Rosary will be begin at 7:00 p.m. Thursday.

The family suggests memorial contributions to St. John the Evangelist Church, sent in care of the funeral home.
