Arnold F. Cluchey

Graveside services for Arnold F. Cluchey, 79, Lawrence, will be at 1 pm Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Douglas County Hospice Chaplain Paul Reed officiating. Mr. Cluchey died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Mar. 16, 1938, in Cornack, Saskatchewan, the son of Arthur B.C. and Inga Frostad Cluchey. He graduated from Eudora High School, where he was homecoming king and excelled in many sports. He later attended Kansas University. Arnie served in the United States Marine Corps reserves, and was employed by Hallmark Cards for more than 20 years, retiring as a supervisor. He also was a partner in a photography business, The Picture Works. He was a master carpenter, and enjoyed SCUBA diving, animals, tennis, motorcycles, and camping. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes.

Arnold married Nancy J. Vandeventer on June 14, 1958, in Lawrence. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Norene Hoffhines, and Laura Linder (Stephen); two siblings, Everette Cluchey and Violet Toyne; seven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
