Arthur ‘Art’ Feist

Graveside services for Arthur ‘Art’ Feist, 60, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Underwood Cemetery on Hwy. 24 near Williamstown. Art passed away Sunday, Apr. 21, 2013, at Baldwin Healthcare & Rehab.

He was born Apr. 21, 1953, in Strasburg, N.D., the son of Leo M. and Dorothy Lipp Feist. He attended St. John Catholic School, and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1972. Art had worked at Aeroquip from 1976-83, and in the housing maintenance department of The University of Kansas from 1988-95, before becoming a technician at Johnson Chemical Co. in 1995, until his health forced his retirement in 2005. He enjoyed camping, NASCAR, motorcycles, the outdoors, and especially spending time with family.

He married Debbie LeRoux on Mar. 6, 1976, in Lawrence. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Erin Lewis and husband Jason, Gower. Mo.; two sisters, Janice Hurst and husband Jay, Lawrence, and Mary Joan Feist, Pflugerville, Tex.; two grandchildren, Brayden Lee Lewis and Presley Kate Lewis; a step granddaughter, Paige Lewis; his godmother, Theresa Wagner, Bismarck, N.D.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6:30-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aseracare Hospice, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
