A memorial visitation for Bill Gurley, 82, Lawrence, will be Saturday, November 13th from 1-3 pm at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory. Bill passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021, at his home, surrounded by family. A private inurnment will take place at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born February 7, 1939, in Ada, Oklahoma, the son of Euel S. and Elva M. Beller Gurley. He graduated from Baldwin High School, and served in the United States Navy. Bill worked in the maintenance department at Farmland Industries and retired after 36 years of service. He was a member of the OCAW Union 5-613, and attended the Church of Christ and Centenary United Methodist Church.
Bill married Sandra K. ‘Sandy’ Bereiter on January 31, 1958, in Lawrence. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Debra Logan, Lawrence, and Jeffrey Gurley, Houston, Tex.; a brother Sam Gurley, Baldwin City; seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Gurley, a sister, Loeata Stanley, a granddaughter, and a great grandson.
