Elizabeth J. Foos
Lecompton, KS
May 16, 1963 – October 13, 2019
Known to her friends and family “Betty” has passed. Lover of nature, gardening, children, animals, Hispanic food, things pretty and shiny. We hope she’s enjoying the ever after. Let there be fresh salsa, Pepsi, and sunshine without skin cancer.
She was a gifted practical nurse, who devoted over 35 years of care to many. For 12 years, Betty did not miss one day of work at Women’s Health Care, Lawrence (tardy, eh-probably). She also previously worked for Visiting Nurses, Private Practice, Presbyterian Manor, and most recently, Healthy Solutions and Olathe Health. Most missed will be her skills here at the Homestead.
Survivors include: Husband Rick Foos (of the home) daughter Ashley E Foos (Lawrence); sons Philip H Foos and Evan P Foos, (of the home). Patricia A Smith and Quay H Smith (Loving Parents of the Homestead). Sisters; Lucinda Yother and husband Tom (Lawrence), June Smith and Sheryl Smith-Foster of the Homestead in Quay’s Valley near Lecompton. Nephew; Tommy Yother and Niece; Meredith Revell (Lawrence) many great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; we will miss her smile, laughter, love and great pies.
After her graduation from Perry-Lecompton High School, she enlisted into the Army National Guard as a Medical Specialist. Her passion for all things healing was then pursued at Kaw Area Vocational School (now Washburn Institute of Technology), in Topeka Kansas. She graduated with honors in January of 1983 and was honorably discharged from the National Guard in 1987.
At her request no public services will be held at this time. Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home has graciously agreed to accept donations in lieu of flowers. We will most likely celebrate her life in her favorite month of May with the clearing of her gardens and scattering of ashes.
