Ella (Faye) Shrable

Services for Ella Faye Shrable will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday April 16, 2024 at Washington Creek Cemetery, 607 E. 550 Rd., Lawrence, KS. 66047.

Faye passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in Lawrence Kansas. She was born January 24, 1928 at her grandparents farm near Moody, Missouri, to Brook Claxton and Mable Davis Clay. She graduated from West Plains High School in West Plains, Missouri. She married Lehman Shrable in 1946. They moved to Lawrence in 1952 from Arkansas. They built a life here together but Arkansas was always, “down home,” and they returned there often to visit family. Lehman and Faye were married for 55 years until he passed away in 2001. Faye worked for Montgomery Ward in Lawrence for 29 years, until their doors closed. She retired and spent her remaining years as a homemaker in rural Douglas County.

She was known for her pies, cobblers, canning and homemade jelly. Her famous fudge was highly sought after at Christmas. She enjoyed reading, hand quilting, antiquing and thrift store shopping. Her greatest attribute was how deeply she loved her family and the Lord.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Suit of Lawrence, and Cheryl (Randy) Flory of rural Douglas County. Six grandchildren, Joan Suit Hahn (Paul), Amy Suit Schell (Larry), Stephanie Flory Lang (Brian), Aaron Flory (Marci), Nathan Suit, and Andy Flory (Faith),. Thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.

The family wishes to thank Faye’s dear friend and neighbor Linda Haar who helped our Mom and Nana remain in her own home, which was her greatest desire. Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. There will be no family visitation.
