Ella L. Farmer

Funeral services for Ella L. Farmer, 62, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Victory Bible Church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Ms. Farmer died Thursday, August 26, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, Kansas.
She was born June 25, 1949 at her home in Webster County, Mississippi, the daughter of Wilson and Jimmie Mae Minor Farmer.

She graduated from Davidson High School in 1969. Ms. Farmer was a homemaker. She attended Church of Christ of Lawrence, KS and was a member of International Free and Accepted Modern Masons and Order of the Eastern Star Andrew Nette Daniels Grand Chapter. She was a former Douglas County Senior Services volunteer.

Survivors include a daughter Sonia Farmer, fiancé Gary, and son Rodney Farmer. One brother Troy Farmer Sr, wife Lera of Chicago, Illinois. Five sisters, Georgia Roberson, husband John, Wille Mae Kimbrough, husband James, both of Chicago, Illinois, Lucy Wilma Jean Hervey and Levonia Shepard both of Watervalley, Mississippi and Minister Laura Bettye Cruise, and husband Stephen of Belleville, Illinois. Seven grandchildren, Monechia Fisher, Tiffany and De-Janelle Lockett, Justin Bethea, RaShaun Farmer, Michael Farmer, Kamarre Farmer and two great grand children, Amani Canady and Jordan Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Esther Lee Ford and a brother Anderson Farmer, a daughter Latonya Farmer died earlier in a house fire January 17, 1993.

Friends may call the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home Friday noon to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the funeral at the church.
