Homer Lee ‘Bob’ Broyles

Funeral services for Homer Lee ‘Bob’ Broyles, 84, Worden, will be at 10 am Saturday at Worden United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bud Tuxhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Worden Cemetery.

Mr. Broyles died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Hwy. 59, south of Baldwin Junction,

He was born Aug. 27, 1928, in Seneca, Neb., the son of Howard and Marie Madron Broyles. He graduated from McLouth High School, and later served in the U.S. Navy Air Force as a tailgunner.

Bob owned and operated Broyles Texaco in Lawrence and Worden Agricultural Services in Worden. He most recently was a farmer and rancher for over 40 years. He was a member of Worden United Methodist Church.

He married Marilyn Gay Everley on Dec. 15, 1951. She preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 2003. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Green, in 2008.

Survivors include a daughter, Patti Broyles Harper and husband Jeremy, Baldwin City, and a son, Lee Broyles and wife Tami, Baldwin City; a son in law, Tracy Green, Lawrence; two brothers, Don and Howard (Tom) Broyles; grandchildren, Wesley Broyles, Jenny Broyles, Willie Broyles and wife Katie, Hannah Broyles Hale, Tony Hadley, and Nicholas, Patrick, and Matthew Green; and great grandchildren Wyatt, Heather, and Hailey.

Friends may call Friday from 3 to 7 pm at Worden United Methodist Church, where the family will receive them from 5 to 7 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join the family for a meal afterward.
