Janet Sue Perico, 77, passed away Friday, March 2nd, in Lawrence, KS. Janet was born in Arkansas City, KS on December 30th, 1940. She was born to Lyle and Ione Newman.
Janet lived an exciting life traveling to many countries such as Europe and Spain many times. One of her many passions included teaching, education and traveling. Her kids and grandkids were her drive. In the early 80’s Janet moved to Big Sur, CA where she lived on the coast which she enjoyed immensely. Janet was a High School English teacher, then went on to instruct at KU teaching Women’s Studies and Philosophy. One of her joys was teaching young men how to carry themselves as she was also a House Mother at 2 Fraternities at the University of Kansas. Janet was full of love and had a vibrant personality who taught many to never give up.
Janet is proceeded in death by her son Gregory Allen Perico, her parents Lyle and Ione Newman, sister Linda Steele (Ben), and the father of her children, Berklie Boggs Perico. Janet leaves behind a brother Edward Newman (Patty) Son Doug (Lisa) Perico, Son, Brad Perico, a Daughter Lisa (Dino) Bell, Her grandchildren, Cambria Mayes, Shabrie Perico, Jordan Banks, Alyssa Bell and Damon Perico. Janet also leaves behind many nieces & nephews.
The family would like to thank Presbyterian Manor of Lawrence Kansas for the care they provided.
A Memorial Service & Celebration of Life will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City KS at a later date.
