Lillian Rose Woods Arnold passed away from respiratory failure at the age of 37 in Columbia, MO on Sunday, August 15 2021 surrounded by members of her loving family.
Lillian was born in Dallas, Texas December 27, 1983 to Shannon Rose (Woods) and CPL. USMC (Ret.) John Musgrave. Recognized as a Duke Scholar in middle school in Dallas, she moved with her mother and sister to Baldwin City, KS at the age of 14, where she attended Baldwin High School, and, later, Baker University with an interest in Art and Art History. After high school, Lillian completed nurse aide training and worked as a CNA at Baldwin Care Center before joining the United States Navy in October 2002, completing boot camp at Great Lakes Recruit Training Command as a member of the Great Lakes Navy Flag Team. After training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX, she later served as Master At Arms (Navy Law Enforcement) at Camp Kadena in Okinawa, Japan.
Lillian is survived by her parents of Baldwin City, KS, beloved grandparents Lt. Col USA (Ret.) Andrew D. Woods, Jr. and Patricia Rose (Hansen) Woods of Baldwin City, her siblings Madeline Roger of Lawrence, KS, Daniel Musgrave (Stephanie) of Miami, FL, Rye Musgrave of Lawrence, Prabha Gosler (Grant) of Texas, and Bhama Roget of Washington, Uncle Col. USA (Ret.) Jeffrey Woods (Aunt Melenie) of MD, Uncle Kenneth Musgrave of MO, niece Elsie Rose Ward of Lawrence, cousins Jason and Sean Woods of MD, Kendra Musgrave of MO, and Robert Musgrave of MO.
She was predeceased by her great-grandmothers Elsie (Loshbaugh) Hansen and Elizabeth (Bullard) Dendy, great-grandfather Andrew D. Woods, Sr., Great-Aunt Barbara Duncan, Great-Uncles Michael Hansen and Harrell Moore, grandparents Wilda and Robert Musgrave, Aunt Barbara Musgrave, Fiancé Jamie Purl, and her beloved cat Oculis and pet rat Yolandi.
An unparalleled free spirit, Lillian was also an artist, poet, writer, singer, voracious reader, traveler, seeker of knowledge, militant animal lover, and die-hard Texan. She was funny, quick-witted, selfless, generous to a fault, always ready to help, brilliant, restless, curious, and very much beloved by friends and family. Lillian Rose was, indeed, her own person. She was our sunshine from her first breath.
Lillian will reside at Leavenworth National Cemetery where she was buried with military honors.
