Graveside services for Marvin Edward Copp Sr., 77, Lawrence, will be at 11 am Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery. A potluck lunch will follow from 1-3 pm at the Union Pacific Depot in North Lawrence. Marvin died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 24, 1938, in Lawrence, the son of Melvin A. and Anna G. Holladay Copp. He attended Lawrence schools. Marvin had worked at J. West Feed Store and the University of Kansas before becoming employed by Yellow Cab as a driver. He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing cards and going to casinos.
He had married and divorced Ellen Whitaker, Sarah Gonce, Ruth Locke, and Theresa Harrell. He married Edna Marie Foster on Apr. 29, 1997, in Lawrence. She survives of the home. Other survivors include children Deborah Carter and husband Terry, Topeka, Brenda Slifer, Lawrence, Jamie Copp and wife Becky, Lawrence, Marvin Copp Jr., Parsons, Michael Copp and wife Kelly, Ozawkie, and Crystal Copp, Iola; 17 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren; siblings Melvin E. Copp, Lawrence, Ronnie R. Copp and wife Patty, Lawrence, Richard L. Copp and wife Linda, Lawrence, Larry D. Copp and wife Linda, Lawrence, Guy D. Copp, Topeka, Vivian A. Ryan, Lawrence, Sandra K. Mock and husband Dale, Lawrence, Linda S. Buckner and husband Stanley, Lawrence, and Charlotte A. Vick and husband Bill, Dardanelle, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Gary L. Copp.
