Robert (Bob) R. Bright, age 93, a resident of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away Monday, May 27, 2024.
Bob was born in Lawrence, Kansas on October 6, 1930, the son of Ralph and Delta (Swain) Bright. Bob married Hazel Darlene Proctor of Lawrence on June 7, 1953, and they had two children: Terrence Lee Bright and Jeffrey Lynn Bright.
Bob served four years in the United States Air Force and was employed by Farmland Industries as Director of Sales at the Lawrence nitrogen plant until his retirement in 1987.
He is survived by his children: Terry Bright and wife Kathy (Carpenter) Bright of Duncanville, Texas and Jeff Bright and husband Steve Gass of Kansas City, Missouri; by his three grandchildren: Joshua Bright; Jacob Bright; and Jordan (Bright) Montasser and husband Rob Montasser; and by eight great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene, his parents, and his sister Barbara Zimmerman.
A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Lawrence Memorial Park. Friends may call at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The casket will remain closed.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Lawrence Humane Society, the First Christian Church of Lawrence, or any other preferred charity/non-profit organization.
