Memorial services for Sam Crawford Sr., 90, Eudora, will be at 10 am Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glenn Weld officiating, Inurnment will follow at Eudora City Cemetery. Mr. Crawford died Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Wellsville Retirement Center.
He was born Jan. 16, 1927, in Eudora, the son of John N. and Georgia Bryant Crawford. He graduated from Eudora High School and later served in the Army of the United States attaining the rank of Corporal and earning a Victory Medal and Army of Occupational Medal Germany. Sam worked as a construction superintendent in the Kansas City area for 45 years. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union. In his free time, Sam enjoyed fishing, KU basketball games, and bird hunting.
He married Susan Raybern on Sept. 6, 1952, in Eudora. She survives of the home, Other survivors include three children, Sam Crawford Jr., Eudora, Linda Abel and husband Danny, Eudora, and Richard Crawford and wife Cathy, Great Falls, Mont.; five grandchildren, Wesley, William, Eric, Audrey, and John; and seven great grandchildren, Brooke, Kyle, Raegan, Kaylee, Colton, Kate, and Samuel. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and William Crawford.
