Funeral services for Sharon Lynn Chaney, 70, Lawrence, will be at 11 am Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Norwood officiating. Burial will follow in Underwood Cemetery near Williamstown. Mrs. Chaney died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at her home.
She was born Nov. 29, 1942, in Lawrence, the daughter of Worthy Ray Rogers and Ina Bernice Tobler Rogers. She graduated from Lawrence High School, and was an administrative assistant for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine for many years. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, and enjoyed quilting and needlepoint.
She married Donald Lee Chaney on Jan. 5, 1962, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death on Apr. 25, 2010. Survivors include three sons, Mark Allen Chaney, Michael Donnell Chaney, and Rodney Jay Chaney, all of Lawrence; her father, Worthy Rogers, Lawrence; a brother, Worthy (Wayne) Rogers, Lawrence; two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Friends may call from noon to 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6-7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, or the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
