Allan was born on May 17, 1926, in Galveston, TX to Hugh Logan and Ruth Emily LeWald Madden. He grew up in southern Texas, and held several occupations, including working on his father’s tugboat, and as a racetrack photographer with his brother, Bill. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, and owned several Harley Davidsons. He was a proud Navy veteran, and served our country during WWII and Korea. He married Gwendolyn Joann Ayers on August 9, 1949, and was later blessed with three children, Robert, John, and Anne. He graduated from Baylor University in Waco, TX, in 1951 with a BA in Chemistry. He later graduated from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX, in 1963 with a Masters of Divinity. He was later ordained as an Episcopal priest in Navasota, TX, in 1964. His passion in serving his Lord for 50 years gave him many opportunities to spread the Gospel in many locations and congregations throughout Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. He ultimately settled in Lawrence, Kansas, and was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and enjoyed visits with his grandchildren.

Allan was an avid stamp collector, and often shared his enthusiasm with his grandchildren. He was also very interested in the theater and performed in many plays over the course of his life. He was witty and enjoyed conversation and joking with others, and had a generous spirit, giving to many charities. He was a proud Texan, an active Democrat, and had a heart of gold, never seeing the bad in others. He will be missed.
