Delbert Francis Skinner
Delbert Francis Skinner passed from this world on September 11, at Brookside Manor in Overbrook, Kansas.
Delbert was born on January 28, 1952 to Francis J Skinner and Barbara Frances Born Skinner. He grew up in Eudora, Kansas and graduated from Eudora High School in 1970. He played semi-pro baseball in Kansas City after graduating high school and also participated in rodeos in his younger years. He married Diana Gaines on January 23, 1976 and moved to her grandfather’s farm in the Twin Mound area until they built their lifetime home on Diana’s other grandfather’s land in the Lone Star area. He enjoyed motorcycle racing until their two daughters arrived and then switched to horses. He was a farrier and worked on saddles and tack in his spare time.
Delbert retired from Kmart warehouse in 2007 after 35 years of service. He spent the remainder of his life traveling with his wife and their horses to trail ride around the United States. When not traveling he kept busy working on saddles in his garage and maintaining the equestrian trails on the South Shore Trails at Clinton Lake.
He enjoyed spending time with his six grandchildren, teaching them how to shoot, fish, sharpen chain saws, work on saddles and use power tools.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert and sister Patricia Hynes. Delbert is survived by his wife, Diana, of the home. Other survivors included daughters Roslyn Mers (Mike), Austin, Texas and Danielle Skinner (Christopher), Overbrook, and six grandchildren, Kaiser and Aria Springer, Ryder and Kinsley Skinner, and Scarlett and Lincoln Mers.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Gaines Walnut Grove 933 E 350 Road, Overbrook, Kansas on Sunday, September 25 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. A memorial trail ride will be held November 12 at Rockhaven Horse Park, Clinton Lake, Lawrence, Kansas

Katrina Darea-Star Connor
A Visitation for Katrina Darea-Star Connor, 36, Lawrence, will be 5-6 pm, Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be from 4-9 pm, Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Broken Arrow Park.
She died August 28, 2022, at her home.
Survivors include her fiancé Michael Monaghan, sons, Arjuna Monaghan of Lawrence and Joseph; her sister’s, Cassandra Connor (Her late husband Robert Davis), Topeka, Brandi Evans (Husband Stephen Evans), Nashville, TN; and many nieces and nephews, Keishandra Connor ( Cairo T), Kasahna Connor, Na’Keane Connor, Rozlin Davis, Martha Davis, Carole Davis, Angelina Davis and Rowan Evans.

Laurel “Lynn” (Strobel Bunker) Bowen
No services are planned for Lynn at this time, and the cremation has taken place.
Lynn died August 31, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Lenexa.
She was born October 30, 1940, in Lawrence, the daughter of Vernon and Agnes (Pine) Strobel. Lynn attended West Indianola Grade School and graduated from Seaman High School in Topeka in 1958. After high school, she attended Kansas State University for two years where she met Robert Bunker. Lynn married Robert Bunker in 1960. They later divorced, and he died in 2002. They had three children – two sons, Steven Bunker, who died in 1961, and Mark Bunker of Shawnee, and a daughter, Cindy Bunker of Lenexa, KS. Lynn later married Manard Bowen in 1986. He died in 1992.
Lynn was the granddaughter of the late Clarence & Gertrude (Epley) Pine and Jacob (Jake) & Margaret (Seitz) Strobel. She was a direct descendant of Jacob G. & Christiana Strobel who moved to Eudora in 1858 and William Allen Sr. & Elizabeth Pine who moved to Lawrence in 1868.
She is survived by her son and daughter, a sister Marsha Strobel of Topeka, and a granddaughter Elena Bunker of Connecticut.
Lynn was a highly devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with family, which included all the family dogs over the years. She enjoyed crocheting, macrame, ceramics and was an amazing pianist who awed people with her ability to play by ear. She also enjoyed tracing the family tree and sharing just-learned interesting trivia with family, friends and strangers. One of her most favorite quotes: “The eagle soared, and its flight said all it needed to say.”

Lloyd Ivan Wingert
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 2 p.m. at the Clinton Cemetery. Lloyd passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022, at his home.
Lloyd was born in the rural Baldwin area on May 7, 1927, to Jesse and Elsie Elizabeth (Peterson) Wingert. He was the fourth of nine children. He married Doris Cox on April 29, 1951, at the home of Doris’ parents.
Lloyd retired from FMC in 1992 after 28 years of service. Prior to that, he worked at the McConnell Machinery and Lawrence Asphalt. Throughout his life, Lloyd also farmed in rural Douglas County. After retirement, Lloyd worked summers for the Wakarusa Township Road Crew when needed.
He was happiest when helping others. Lloyd loved working in his shop and not only repaired tractors, lawnmowers, chainsaws, etc., but also built trailers, log splitters, box blades, etc. Welding was one of his talents that he spent many years doing. There were many times when pieces of machinery needed repair but were so old there would be no parts available. So, Lloyd made the part needed to fix the machinery. Neighbors knew Lloyd’s shop was usually open and he was available to fix what they needed, when they needed it!
Lloyd was very devoted to his family, and they brought him great joy. He never missed the chance to watch baseball, softball, and volleyball games whenever his kids or grandkids had games. He continued to enjoy watching his two great-grandsons when they started playing ball. He was not just interested in sports, but in anything they did!
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, his parents, and brothers: Leo, Merle, Gene, Clarence, Jimmy and Alfred and a son-in-law, Jeff Miller..
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Miller, a son Larry (Lynn) Wingert, four grandchildren, Kyle (Shelbie) Miller, Troy (Jennifer) Wingert, Emily (Josh) Pritchard, and Matthew Wingert and two great grandsons, Caden and Hudson Pritchard and his brother, Carroll (Donna) Wingert and a sister, Katherine (Wingert) Koehler.

Joanne Kirkpatrick Hoobler
Joanne K. Hoobler, 77, Lawrence, KS passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at LMH Health.
Joanne Kirkpatrick was born on February 23, 1945 in Oswego, KS, the daughter of Wilbur and Esther (Strickland) Kirkpatrick.
She attended Oswego schools and following graduation from high school she attended Stormont Vail Nursing School, Topeka, KS and graduated as a registered nurse. She started her nursing career at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and later joined a private practice where she worked until she retired.
On July 24, 1965, she married the love of her life Lloyd Dean Hoobler at the First Methodist Church in Oswego, KS. Last month they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Lloyd survives of the home. They raised two sons in Lawrence Kansas. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, taking care of her many plants, camping out with their camping group, enjoying winters in Arizona. and visiting with friends and neighbors.
Other survivors include her brother Randy Kirkpatrick, Oswego, KS, Chad (Gretchen) Hoobler, Baldwin, KS, Brad (Leanne) Hoobler, McLouth, KS, grandchildren, Evan (Kelsey) Hoobler, Baldwin, KS, Logan (Mandy) Hoobler, Perry, KS, Brooke (Elliott) Beeman, Baldwin, KS, great grandchildren Ryder, Brantley, Trace and Rowan Hoobler, Baldwin, KS.
There will be a celebration of life from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 18th at Johnny’s Tavern, 401 North 2nd Street, Lawrence, Kansas and from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 16th at Oswego Senior & Community Center, Oswego, KS.

Gary Lee Rauckman
Gary Lee Rauckman, 79, of Lawrence, Kansas passed away on Thursday August 25, 2022.
Gary was born in Hutchinson, KS on June 1, 1943 to Harold August and Mary Margaret Rauckman. He was the second of four children.
He graduated from Buhler High School in 1961. He married Kathy Schmidt on September 8, 1961. They moved to Lawrence where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas University in 1966. Gary began his engineering career as a student engineer with Kansas Power and Light and became a full-time employee after graduation. Following graduation, KPL moved him to Abilene, KS to be the power plant superintendent. He was employed there for two and a half years.
Abilene was a special place for the family. It was there that Gary committed his life to Christ through a Billy Graham movie. That encounter changed not only him but also Kathy and the priorities of the entire family. That encounter with Christ was the foundation that has built the family legacy.
In 1969, KPL was building an addition to the Lawrence plant, and they moved Gary back to Lawrence to be involved with that construction. In 1972, a friend who was a residential contractor invited Gary to be his superintendent. That invitation became a huge decision and after careful consideration, the invitation was accepted. Gary continued as a contractor for the remainder of his life. He enjoyed the work but also found it possible to be a more hands-on father to his three children. This was a wonderful period in the family’s life. He and his boys played softball together, and the entire family enjoyed camping and outdoor life.
Gary was selfless and caring. He was a good provider and particularly faithful in his work, his home, and his church. He was a good friend to many, offering support when needed. He had a happy smile, a passion for life and loved having fun. Gary was a lifelong hobbyist. His interest was in model trains and building radio control planes and jets. He loved to take things apart and built model airplanes from scratch. He had a pilot’s license and owned a Russian Yak and a Piper Cub airplane. He enjoyed mentoring men in the Bible. In his casual way he made a difference in the lives of many. He will be deeply missed but he leaves a treasured legacy of faith, hope and family.
Survivors include his wife Kathy of Lawrence; twin sons Kevin (Carol) Rauckman of Olathe, KS, and Kelly (Lorraine) Rauckman of Shawnee, and daughter Tonya (Kent) Broddle of Overland Park; Grandchildren Jared (Christen) Broddle of Los Angeles, CA, Rebekah Rauckman (Taylor Foye) of Prairie Village, Emily (Connor) Pemble of Olathe, Grant (Katelyn) Rauckman of Olathe, Sarah (Grant) Morris of Prairie Village, Owen (Brooklyn) Rauckman of Kansas City, MO, Hannah (Jason) Prichard of Olathe, Rachel Broddle of Overland Park, Katerina Brockmann of Shawnee, Charles Brockmann of Shawnee; and three great-grandsons, Shepherd, Myles, and Jesse; a sister Anita Jo (Robert) Ensz of Galva, KS, two brothers, Robert Harold (JoAnn) Rauckman of Topeka and William Greg Rauckman of Sturgis, SD. Gary was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Julia Rauckman.
The Celebration of Life will take place on September 10, at 2:00pm at Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 3312 Calvin Dr., Lawrence, KS, 66049.

Keith Glenn Poulsen
It is with deep sadness that the Poulsen family announces the unexpected death of Keith G. Poulsen on August 25th 2022. Keith was born in Chicago Illinois, but has called Lawrence, Kansas home for the last 30 plus years. He is survived by his wife Christine, son Kevin (Erin), daughters Kara (Ernie) and Katrina; Grandchildren; Falchion, Jax and Ellie, his Mom, Jan and Dad, Herbert (predeceased), sisters Pam (Steve), Cindy (Pete), and brother Eric; along with his many nieces and nephews (Christopher, Courtney, Nick, Alexandra, Sean, Stephen, Brad, Kyndall and Grant) along with many other family and friends.
He was a hardworking, thoughtful, loving, and devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend who would never let you down. Keith served in the US Navy and then worked in Electrical Industrial Maintenance for WRCA, Armco Steel, Constar and finally at ICL. Keith loved spending time with his family and friends, music and watching the Chiefs and Jayhawks, reading good books, watching movies, and loved to cook and grill, and he could fix or repair almost anything.
A visitation for Keith Glenn Poulsen, 60, Lawrence, will be from 4:30-6 pm, Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Casual dress would be preferable by family.

Garrett Wayne (Gary) Stubbs
Graveside Services for Garrett Wayne (Gary) Stubbs, 55, Lawrence, will be 1 pm Friday, August 26, 2022, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Perry.
Garrett Wayne Stubbs (Gary) passed away on August 21, at Lawrence Memorial, following an unexpectedly quick battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was 55 years old living in Lawrence, Kansas.
Gary was born on July 28, 1967 to William and Nancy Stubbs in Kansas City, Missouri. His parents moved to Perry, Kansas, in 1972 where Gary was the oldest brother of three. After his father’s passing, Gary moved to Lawrence where he attended school and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1986.
Fresh out of high school, he worked as a carpenter in the construction industry. After working for a few different employers and a short period of self-employment, he went to work with Hunt, Inc. for the next 27 years providing outstanding craftsmanship around Lawrence, Kansas and the surrounding areas. Over time in his career he was involved in the construction of hundreds of residential and commercial projects all over Lawrence and Douglas County area. Working with wood and metal buildings were a lifelong passion. Anyone who knew Gary would agree that he is one of the hardest working men they have known.
Gary was married briefly to Shirley Stubbs but they divorced. In 2007, he met the love of his life, Mhel Suva, and they have been in love ever since! Mhel would spend the maximum amount of time she could with Gary in the US, and Gary had made several trips to the Philippines to visit her and her family. He had mentioned how he would have loved to retire in the Philippines with Mhel. Unfortunately, Mhel has been unable to return to be with Gary since 2020.
To say that Gary is loyal, patient and extended his grace is truly an understatement. He made the time to show up for you, he would give you an infinite amount of chances, and you could trust him wholeheartedly.
Gary was predeceased by his parents, William and Nancy Stubbs. Gary is survived by a sister, Rebecca Stubbs (Lawrence, KS) a brother, John Stubbs (Pelican Rapids, MN)and half sister Rhonda Zelepuza (Aberdeen, WA) . He is also survived by a niece, Alexia Crowe and nephews, Damon Stephens, Nicolas Crowe, Roscoe Stubbs, Charles Stubbs and William Stubbs.
