Charles W. ‘Chuck’ Bevens

Services for Charles W. ‘Chuck’ Bevens, 60, Lyndon, will be at 10 am Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Eudora City Cemetery. Chuck died Friday, September 14, 2018, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, Kan.

A visitation will be held Thursday from 6 to 7 pm at the funeral home.

He was born May 3rd 1958 in Lawrence, the son of Zelma Eugene Bevens and Carol Darlene (Parker) Bevens. They preceded him in death along with his sister Carol Jean “Jeannie” Bevens

He spent most of his childhood in the Lawrence area and graduated from Lawrence High School. He enjoyed casual sport, fishing and family time.

He enter the Navy after school. He married once before and then met Tammy Shockley; they were married for fourteen years and gave life to five boys

Charles was a kind and loving son, brother, father and uncle. There were good times and bad times like any family but in the end he would give the world to the people he loved. His fighting spirit and strong will lives within us and a piece of him will always brighten for what the future has in store

He survived by his brother Guy Edwards from Texas and his sister Nancy Asher (Gary) of Lawrence, his sons Justin Wesley (Bevens) Thompson, Jason Lee (Bevens) Thompson, Jacob Allen (Bevens) Thompson, Jordan Eugene (Bevens) Thompson, Jesse (Bevens) Veer; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
