Memorial services for Charles Lester Neal, 89, Williamsburg, will be 2 pm Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 211 E South St, Williamsburg, KS 66095.
He died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Bridge Haven Village, Lawrence, KS.
Charles was born April 27, 1928, in rural Ottawa, KS, the son of Lloyd Lester and Thelma Dale Boyd Neal. He graduated from Williamsburg High School. Later went on to get his associate’s Degree in Agriculture at Kansas State University.
He Co-owed Neal Farms, a working cattle ranch for over 60 years, with his best friend and brother. Enjoyed square dancing, spending time with his family and friends. He was passionate about working the ground and raising prime beef.
Charles married Vera D. Nester on June 21, 1952, in Williamsburg, Kansas, she survives in the home.
Other survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Mitzie Neal; his sister and brother-in-law, Maurine and Richard Herrin; Daugher and son-in-law, Elaine and George Swisher; grandson and his wife, Hayden and Krystina Swisher; his granddaughter and her husband, Lindsey and Sean Deaton, and grandson, Wesley Hoffman.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Connie Hoffman.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions made to the Williamsburg United Methodist Church or Bridge Haven, in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana St. Lawrence, KS 66044.
