John Robert Baldwin, age 86 of Lawrence, passed away October 6 2025. John was born January 31, 1939 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri to parents Kenneth Baldwin and Edith Mae Humbard Baldwin. He worked for many years in construction, where he was employed with KU in their refrigeration department and also at Riley Construction and Chaney and Allen Press. John was retired from the Plumbers and Pipefitters local Union # 441. He also enjoyed cars, car racing (NASCAR), and firearms. John was a longtime member of the River City Cruisers car club.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Judy of many years and one son, Robert. He is survived by his son, Joe; one brother, Ken and his wife, Kathy; two grand daughters, Amanda and Melinda; two nephews, Josh and Jacob; three great grandchildren, Ayden, Joey and Jon and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services are set for 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 27, 2025 at Memorial Park Cemetery of Lawrence. Arrangements are Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home of Lawrence.
