Funeral services for Marjorie L King, 92, will be held Tuesday, June 5th, 2018. Visitation is 10 am followed by an 11am service at First Baptist Church, 1330 Kasold Drive, Lawrence, KS.

She met Jesus Friday, June 1, 2018 at Hillside Village in DeSoto, KS. Marjorie was a former Lawrence resident.

Marjorie was born June 26, 1925 in Kansas City, MO, daughter of George and Mary Hilfinger.

She graduated from Paseo High School in 1943 and then attended business school in Kansas City, graduating in 1945.

Marjorie married John Nelson King on January 23, 1948. He preceded her in death on May 31, 2009. They were married for 61 years. She retired after 25 years of service for State Farm Insurance. She was awarded a certificate for 50 years of continuous service at the First Baptist Church in Lawrence, KS.

Marjorie had an outgoing personality. Her husband used to say she never met a stranger. She could strike up a conversation with anyone. She was an avid knitter. In the sixties and seventies she knit bandages for overseas leprosy patients and hats for newborns at LMH. More recently she made cards for Operation Write Home. And while living at Hillside Village she was voted most likely to give a hug.
