Mary F. Williams

Services for Mary F. Williams, 73, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday September 9 at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence.

Mrs. Williams died August 15, 2017 after a short illness at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 10, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Tonganoxie High School in 1962 and briefly attended Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas.

She married the love of her life, John Williams on September 7, 1963 in Tonganoxie, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 2008. They resided in Tonganoxie for many years before moving to Lawrence.

She retired from the University of Kansas after serving in many departments as an administrative assistant. She was a charter member of Bethel 67, International Order of Job’s Daughters and a member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Tonganoxie United Methodist Church. She enjoyed creating crafts and sharing those creations at local craft shows, bowling and reading. But most of all she enjoyed her family.

Survivors include two sons, John and Wife Dawn, Golden Co. Scott and wife Karen, Olathe; two daughters, Jeanne Goodrich and husband Barry, La Junta Co, and Stephanie Givens and partner Chris Rusin, Lawrence. 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Steven, Katie, Arielle, Connor, Matthew, Christopher, Brandon, Ryan and Ashley. Mary had 6 great grandchildren.

Other surviors include brothers/sister in-laws; Jim and Krystal Williams, Baldwin. Ken and Jeanne Doege, Springhill, Jan Williams Omaha, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, John; her father, Charles E. Clark; mother Mary Grace Clark; and four brothers, Alvin Werbe, Don Werbe, Charles Clark, Jr., and Harold Clark.

The family suggests memorials to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital sent in care of the funeral home.
