Margaret ‘Mickey’ E. Richards

Memorial services for Margaret ‘Mickey’ Elizabeth Richards, 88, Eudora, will be Saturday, February 4th. at 5 pm at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4 until service time.

She died Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Medicalodges Eudora.

She was born Sept. 24, 1928, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Joseph N. and Bessie Mae Hollingsworth Raybern. She was a homemaker, and worked as a dietary specialist at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and at Watkins Hospital on the University of Kansas Campus. She was a member of North Lawrence Christian Church, and participated in many of their activities. She loved Jesus and enjoyed reading her Bible. She also enjoyed watching birds, especially cardinals, cooking, dominoes, card games, word searches, animal shows on TV, pets, and spending time with friends and family. Mickey was known for her world famous peanut butter fudge and potato salad, and enjoyed hamburgers, multi-grain Cheerios, cherry limeades, and hot fudge sundaes.

She married John Preston Richards on July 4, 1947, in Eudora. He preceded her in death, as did a son, John Paul Richards. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Miley and husband Dale, Kansas City, Kan.; four brothers, Don Raybern and wife Shari, Lawrence, Joseph Raybern and wife Melinda, Florida, Bill Raybern and wife Dixie, Indiana, and Gary Raybern, Florida; a sister, Martha Smith, Colorado; two grandchildren, Paul Miley and wife Lynell, and Connie Horosz and husband Damien; six great grandchildren, Kailey, Isabel, and Levi Horosz, Zac and Olivia Miley, and Anna Smades; and one great great grandson, Thatcher.
