Kenneth Hoyt Morris

A celebration of life will be held for Kenneth Hoyt Morris on February 2, 2019, from 12-2:30 pm at VFW, located at 1801 Massachusetts St., Lawrence, KS 66044.

He died January 21, 2019, surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.

Kenneth was born May 22, 1957, in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Hoyt Morris and Shirley Weeks (Estes). He grew up in Lawrence and spent some time in the Ozark Mountains. He was a trim carpenter for multiple builders in Lawrence, KS.

Survivors include his children, Patricia (David) Roberts, Marcie (Ted) Wainright, Kenneth Conrad Morris, 6 grandchildren, Bronson, Brayden, Violet, George, Teddy and Graham. Mother, Shirley Weeks, Sisters, Joyce Stowe and Marsha Hanusek, Brother Keith Morris and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Hoyt Morris, grandmother Mildred Pauline Estes, brother in law Ronald Stowe, and aunts Coleen Tabbert and Marlou Bateson.

Onita Myer

Memorial services for Onita Myer, 72, Lawrence, will be 10 am, Friday, June 15, 2018, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6-7 pm Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

She died Monday, June 11, 2018, at her sister’s home.

Onita was born May 27, 1946, in Sikeston, MO, the oldest daughter of George Roy and Minnie Juanita Nichols Morris.

She attended Lawrence Public School and she graduated from Lawrence High School in 1964. Later she went on to get her Associate’s Degree in Business from Baker University.

Onita was employed at Bendix-King for several years working at both Lawrence and Olathe, KS Locations. She loved to read and spend time with family and friends.

She and Sterling L. Beebe were married March 17, 1967 in Lawrence. They divorced in 1984. She then married John Edson Myer on July 13, 1985, he preceded her in death on February 2, 2018.

Onita is survived by her two sisters Mary K. Morris and her husband Bruce Humphreys, Overland Park, KS and Annette Evans and her husband Greg of Lawrence. Three nephews Robert C Mugridge Jr., Benjamin Mugridge and his wife Carrie, Jakeb Evans all of Lawrence. One Great niece, Madilyn Mugridge and two great nephews Dalton and Brooks Mugridge.

In lieu of flowers the family would like any memorial contributions to be made to the Lawrence Humane Society or Animal Rescue of Donor’s Choice, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
