Lucille Virginia Hayden Hansen
Lucille V. Hansen, age 95, passed away July 16, 2018 at Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence, Kansas. She was born August 9, 1922 in Lawrence to Willard H. and Mary R. Hanna Hayden.
Lucille grew up on a farm at what was then known as Hayden’s Corner with her four sisters. She attended Oak Ridge School in Grant Township and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1939. The following year, she attended the University of Kansas and later married William (Bill) E. Hansen in January 1941. Bill joined the Army Air Corp before World War II, eventually becoming an officer in the United States Air Force. Lucille and Bill moved 39 times and had the good fortune to live throughout the United States. She worked as a bookkeeper in Florida, Alaska, and Texas. Lucille and Bill also lived in Adana, Turkey with their young daughters for a two-year period in the early 1960’s. Lucille was a well-known local artist producing hundreds of oil paintings. Her specialty was local landscapes and pressed flower arrangements. She successfully exhibited her works in Lawrence’s “Art-in-the-Park” for 15 years.
Lucille also traveled extensively with her sisters. They enjoyed vacations throughout the United States and many overseas destinations which included Russia, the Middle East, most of Europe, as well as cruises to Central and South America.
In later years, Lucille and three of her sisters built condominiums in a Lawrence subdivision. Fondly known by nieces and nephews as the Aunt Colony, she enjoyed nightly suppers with her sisters followed by games of bridge. Lucille loved playing bridge and was a member of several local bridge clubs for many years. Lucille is survived by her daughter, Kay Hansen Hopkins, and Kay’s husband, Larry, of Topeka, by her sisters Della Hadley and Vera Dellwig of Lawrence and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Sue Hansen, in 2005, and her husband, Bill, in 1980.
A visitation will be Friday, July 20, 2018 from 6-7 pm, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. A private family burial will be scheduled at a later date.

Edgar V. ‘Eddie’ Klotz
Edgar Virgil Klotz (“Eddie”), 86, passed away on July 16, 2018.
Eddie was born on April 8, 1932, second-to-youngest of ten children born to parents Robert and Phoebe (Jantzen) Klotz. He attended grade schools at Ellis, Kansas, and Denver, Colorado. He married Marjean Macey in Topeka, Kansas, on April 29, 1951, and together they had four children: Connie, Allen, Craig and Robert. Eddie and Marjean also have seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Eddie and Marjean also have seven grandchildren: Kelly Burghart and her husband, Scott, of Tecumseh, Kansas; Stephanie Weiss of Lenexa, Kansas; Mark Fox of Topeka, Kansas; Aaron Klotz and his wife, Leah, of Kansas City, Kansas; Krystle Bixby and her husband, Blake, of Merriam, Kansas; Matthew Klotz of Kansas City, Kansas; and Kelsey Klotz of Wichita, Kansas. Eddie and Marjean also have eight great-grandchildren.
Eddie worked for Meadow Gold Creamery in his early adulthood. He later worked as a salesman for Ed Marling’s Furniture & Appliances in Topeka for 16 years. In 1971, he earned Distinguished Salesman’s Award from the Sales and Marketing Executives of Topeka. He was later named Store Manager for Marling’s Home Furnishings Lawrence location, where he worked for 22 years. He was past-President of Downtown Lawrence Association. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Beulah Chapter #34 in Topeka, Moose Lodge #555 in Topeka, the Elks Lodge in Lawrence, and Masonic Lodge #6 in Lawrence. He was also a member of the Big Blue Club of Lawrence. He enjoyed KU basketball, fishing, boating, water skiing, hunting, golf, gardening, and other outdoor activities.
Eddie is survived by his daughter Connie and her husband, Don, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Allen and his wife, Ariana of Wichita, Kansas; Craig and his partner, Rebecca Mason, of Lawrence, Kansas; and Rob and his wife, Elizabeth Chadwick, of Orlando, Florida. Eddie and Marjean are also survived by their grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Eddie and Marjean are also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws around the U.S.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Phoebe, and his wife Marjean in 2011. He was also preceded in death over the years by his four brothers and five sisters, as well as his foster parents, Rev. Allen and Irma Kellogg, of Dayton, Ohio.
A memorial service for both Eddie and Marjean will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Lawrence Free Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow at Topeka Cemetery.
Jeanne Anne Wolling
Jeanne A. Wolling passed away on July 14, 2018 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar at the age of 91. She was born November 26, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York to George E. and L. Maude Morgan. Jeanne married George M. Wolling, February 21, 1948. They lived on Long Island, New York all their married life. George preceded her in death in 2004.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Barbara J. Wilson, Lawrence, Rev. Dr. Richard G. Wolling (Mary) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Stewart E. Wolling (Anne) Leland, North Carolina; grandchildren, David B. Wilson (Summer), Andrew J. Wilson (Melissa), Jason Wolling (Karen), Zachary Wolling (Erin), Scott Wolling, Rebecca Barr (Matt); 9 great grandchildren; brother in law, Frank J. Wolling of Palm Harbor, Florida.
Jeanne was cremated and a private family service will take place at a later date on Long Island.

Bill Webster
Bill Webster, 91, of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on July 9, 2018.
Bill was born Billy Robert Webster son of Robert Lee and Laura Emma (Matthews) Webster on December 26, 1926 in Lawrence, Kansas. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1945. He married the love of his life, Delaverne Burgoon, on June 10, 1946. Bill and Delaverne enjoyed 57 blissful married years. They traveled the world visiting several countries and continents together. Delaverne proceeded Bill in death on September 5, 2003. Also proceeding him in death were his parents, a half-brother Norman Johnson, and his sister Betty George.
Survivors include four daughters: Jane Webster, Lawrence; Terri Webster (Kirk Wiesner), Leawood, Kansas; Nancy Lahm (David), Lawrence; and Robin Levra (Craig) of LaCanada, California; six grandchildren: Jacob Webster Lahm (Lisa), Candice Lahm, Jay Wiesner (Erin), Alex Webster, Chase Levra and Samantha Levra: and three great grandchildren: Ethan Jacob Lahm, Kathleen Wiesner and Julia Wiesner. He also leaves behind his friend for the past several years, LouAnn Adams of Lawrence, and his personal assistant and one of his best friends of more than 47 years, Charlotte Sparkes. Bill was a very loving and kind man and was loved and cherished very much by his wife and four daughters, and will be truly missed.
Bill served in the United States Army during WWII. He was employed by Lawrence Paper Company from 1943-1967, and owned and operated the Westview Motel. Bill worked in the Manufactured Housing Industry for over 51 years, owning Bob and Bill’s Home Sales, Webster’s Mobile/Modular Home Sales, and numerous mobile home parks. He bought and sold numerous pieces of Real Estate throughout the years. He was a member of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Kansas Freemasons Lodge #6 for 65 years, a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J. USA, member of the American Legion for 70 years, and a member of Shriners International for 65 years. He served on the Board of Directors of the Lawrence National Bank and Trust Co., a Board Member of the Better Business Bureau of Topeka, and Board of Directors of Quail Unlimited for 20 years. Bill was very well respected in the business community being inducted into the Kansas Mobile Home Industry Hall of Fame in 1998, and the National RV/Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame in 2005. He also served as Kansas Representative for Manufactured Housing at the National Level for many years. Bill was a long-time member of the Lawrence Country Club, and charter member of Alvamar Country Club. Bill had a passion for his family, making a great business deal, and of antique cars having acquired an impressive collection over the years.
Bill enjoyed dancing, playing cards with friends, and was a country music fan. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the privilege of hunting with several generations of his family – his dad, son-in-law David, grandson Jacob, and great-grandson Ethan. Bill hunted pheasant, quail, moose and wild boar, and loved to hunt on the Kings Ranch in Texas. He also had the pleasure of watching home videos and talking family history with his grandson Alex. Bill loved to travel, with Mexico being his favorite destination spot going once or twice a year every year for the past 48 years. Bill was a member of the Lawrence Kennel Club for many years, and was fortunate to show and own Champion Brittany Spaniels.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions made to Visiting Nurses of Lawrence, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home on Thursday , July 12th from 6:00-8:00 pm and graveside services will be held Friday, July 13th at 9:30 am at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Cecil L. Dawes Sr.
Cecil L. Dawes, Sr., former resident of Seiling, passed from this life on June 29, 2018 at his home in Lawrence, KS, at the age of 70. He was surrounded by his loving family after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer. Cecil was born on November 4, 1947 in Concho, OK to Steve Dawes and Mary (Black) Little Coyote. Cecil grew up in Seiling area from age 5 until graduating from Seiling High School with the Class of 1965. He began college at Haskell Institute, and later went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Vocational-Technical Education at Pittsburg State University in 1968. He also obtained credits for his Master’s in Human Resources from Pittsburg State University. He was married to Wylma (Davis) Dawes on June 22, 1967 in Seiling, Oklahoma. Cecil began his teaching career at Arkansas City High School until 1983 when he became the Humanities and Graphic Arts teacher for Haskell Indian Nation University until his retirement. Cecil was also a member of the Kit Fox Warrior Society, sponsor of the Indian Club at the University, and a member of the Thunderbird Theater. In his spare time Cecil enjoyed Pow-Wow Dancing and spending time with his grandchildren for all of their school and sporting events.
Cecil was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Little Coyote, his son Cecil Dawes, Jr., and a sister, Wilma Little Coyote.
Cecil is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wylma Dawes; two children, Chelsea Anglin and husband Sutagee of Lawrence, KS and Chebon S. Dawes and wife Jalinn of Lawrence; six grandchildren Brianna, Alexia, Sutagee Jr., Delaney, Chebon H., and Lynzee; and two sisters, Karen Little Coyote of Seiling, OK and Rachel Cole of Ponca City, OK, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A traditional Cheyenne wake service will be held at 7 PM on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the C-1 Community Building. Funeral Services will take place at 10 AM on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Restoration Church. Burial will follow at Brumfield Cemetery.

David Leroy Davis, Sr.
Graveside services for David Leroy Davis, Sr., 57, Lawrence, will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Davis died June 27, 2018, at his home.
He was born September 29, 1960, in Ukiah, California, the son of Ralph Leonard and Lily Louise McCracken Davis. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1979.
Mr. Davis worked for the City of Lawrence, Honey Creek Disposal, and as a union carpenter. He enjoyed working on his vehicles, cutting wood, watching TV, and visiting on the porch with family.
Survivors include a son, David “DJ” Davis Jr. of Lawrence; his mother, Lily of Lawrence; sisters, Vicky Rousselo and husband Earl of Lawrence, Brenda Davis-Miller and husband Mike of Lawrence; brother, Ronnie Davis and wife Bonnie of Perry; and 2 grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his father and wife, Carlene Passell.

Lois Nadine Johnson Anderson
Services for Lois Nadine Johnson Anderson, 96, Lawrence, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson died Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
She was born February 24, 1922, in Erie, Kansas, the daughter of Guy ORacey and Nina Heaton Rush. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1940.
Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker. She was an active member of the Clinton Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed being part of a quilting group, reading, gardening, and most of all family.
She married Byron B. Johnson in Iola, Kansas, January 2, 1941. They lived in Independence, Kansas from 1946 to 1961, before moving to Lawrence in 1961. Byron passed away in 1989. Lois later married I. Carter Anderson in 1991. Carter passed away in 1998.
Survivors include sons, Tony Johnson and wife Esther of D’Hanis, Texas, Kenneth Johnson and wife Chris of Lawrence, Keith Johnson and wife Jan of Kansas City, Kansas, Steven Johnson and wife Barbara of Lexington, Ohio; daughters, Glenna Jones of Lawrence, and Nodjya Arrasmith and husband Gerry of Yucca Valley, California; brother Myron Rush and wife Betty of Iola, Kansas; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren; four step children, Barbara Cogburn, Louise Wintermantel, Loren Anderson, and Jane Schwartz; 13 step grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brother, Clyde Rush; sister, Neva Blair; grandson, Brad Raab; and step son, Joe Anderson.
Friends may call from noon to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A visitation with the family will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Edgar Richard Krieger
Funeral services for Edgar Richard Krieger, 84, Lawrence, will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Lawrence. Burial will be at the Bible M. B. Church Cemetery in Cordell, Oklahoma.
Mr. Krieger died Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Presbyterian Manor.
He was born February 10, 1934, in Cordell, the second child of Leonard and Agatha Rempel Krieger. He attended Cordell High School and Corn Bible Academy, graduating in 1951. In 1958, he earned a B.A. in Social Studies from Tabor College. He later earned B. S. in Psychology with a minor in English, as well as a M.S. in education from the University of Kansas.
Edgar worked on the family farm until 1955. After college Edgar taught Social Studies and English at Hanover, Valley Falls, and Lawrence High Schools, retiring in 1994. During his teaching career he was involved in many professional associations on the local, state, and national levels.
During and after retirement Edgar traveled all over the world for education and pleasure. He enjoyed reading, listening to religious and classical music, and listening to 2nd and 3rd graders read.
Survivors include sisters, Hildegard Thiessen and husband Wilmer of Hillsboro, KS, Nelda Thiessen and husband Virgil of Henderson, NE; and a brother, Norbert Krieger and wife Sylvia of O’Neill, NE.
