Michael Dennis Moran

Private family services for Michael Dennis Moran, 71, Baldwin City, will be held at a later date.

Mr. Moran died Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 14, 1943, in Kansas City, MO, to Timothy Francis and Anna Marie O’Donnell Moran. He worked as a bartender, cook and food and beverage manager, including as a cook at the Raphael Hotel.

Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Tuccillo (Tom), Kansas City, MO; Dr. Kelly Hoyt (Marshall), Overland Park, KS; a son, Christopher Moran (Jennifer), Platte City, MO; two brothers, Timothy Moran (Patricia), Tampa, FL; Kevin Moran (Marie), Galveston, TX; and sister, Mary Susan Noler, Omaha, NE; ten grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mark Allen Kemberling

Services for Mark Allen Kemberling, 57, Lawrence are pending at this time and will be announced at a later date.

Mr. Kemberling passed away in August, 2014.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Mark Kemberling Memorial Fund,  sent in care of  Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, to help with final expenses.

Dorothy Mildred Kerns

Funeral services for Dorothy Mildred Kerns, 92, Lawrence, will be at 10 am Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Kerns died Sun., Sept. 14, 2014, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka.

 

She was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Vinland, Kan., the daughter of Clyde Eugene and Minnie Sarah Hoskinson Nichols. She attended Coal Creek and Harmony grade schools, and graduated from Vinland High School in 1939. She later attended Lawrence Business College. Dorothy was employed as a bookkeeper and office manager for Kansas Public Service Gas Co. from 1942 to 1950, and again from 1966 to 1983. She was a member of India F.C.E. and volunteered at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

 

She married Ralph W. Kerns on Oct. 10, 1948, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Alta Chanay, and a brother, Warren Nichols. Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Dahm and husband Duane, Topeka; two sons, Keith Kerns and wife Leslie, Tucson, Ariz., and Bruce Kerns and wife Annie, Longmont, Colo.; two sisters, Rose Lawson, Baldwin City, and Virginia Walmer and husband Bob, Leawood; six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren

 

Friends may call from 9 am to 8 pm Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Geneva Ann Gary

Graveside services for Geneva Ann Bailey Gary, 92, Eudora, will be 11 am Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Memorial Park Cemetery.

She died Friday September 12, 2014, at Eudora Medicalodges.

Geneva was born Dec. 12, 1921, in Ozark, Arkansas, the daughter of Seth Earl Wisdom and Lessie Bethany Wisdom.

She married Garner Ray Bailey, Feb. 1939, in Ozark, Ark. They had three Children. He preceded her in death in 1989.  She later married John Gary in Lawrence, KS. He passed in 2007.

Mrs. Gary was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Junior, Arlen, Jackie and Lloyd Wisdom, one stepdaughter and one stepson.

Survivors include a son Eugene Bailey, Eudora; two daughters Carol Mason, Eudora, Wilma and Paul Ray, Lawrence; a sister Collene and Glen Long, Eudora; a step daughter Donna Mackey and husband, Grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Geneva enjoyed helping people and cooking for everyone. She also liked fishing and camping with her family. She was active at the Assembly of God Church, in Eudora.  She took part in her W.M.C. group making quilt and other things for missionaries.  She taught Sunday school and helped with Vacation Bible School.

Every summer when her daughter and family went to Colorado for vacation she always made a special breakfast for them before they left and the kids would say, “Grandma is making Colorado breakfast for us”.  All the family had a lot of fun at Grandma’s house for Christmas.

Friends may call from noon to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home and the visitation will take place from 6:30-7:30 pm, at 601 Indiana Lawrence, KS 66044.

Coye Norris Baker

Graveside services for Coye Norris Baker, 89, Lawrence, will be 11 am Tuesday, at Oak Hill Cemetery.

He died Friday, September 5, 2014,  at his home.

He was born March 15, 1925, in Broken Arrow, OK, the son of Edgar Lee and Birdie Ethel Morris Baker.

Coye served in the United States Navy.  After his service he became a truck driver and was a Teamster for 35 years.

Mr. Baker married Reba Ray Rowbotham in 1946, in Lamar Arkansas.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter Sherry and Grant McCoy, Lawrence, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son Doughlas Coye Baker, who died May 4, 2012.

Adin (Butch) Dean Krebs

Graveside services with military honors for Adin (Butch) Dean Krebs, 57, Lawrence, will be 10 am Friday, at Oak Hill cemetery.

He died Tuesday, at his home.

Butch was born May 6, 1957, in Lawrence, the son Opal Ruth Krebs.  He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1976.

Mr. Krebs served in the United States Army and worked as a Motor Transport Operator for over five years.  Once his service was up he began working as a carpenter for many years. He retired from Bob’s Custom Cabinets in 2012.

Survivors include his mother Ruth Shirk, Lawrence; his beloved Cheryl Bowers, Lawrence; three sisters, Thelma (Tiny) Wise, Milinda (Missy) Oshel, Easton and Janice Campbell, all of Lawrence; two daughters Jessie Lynn Krebs, Colorado, and Jamie Brouhard, Lawrence.

Guadalupe Godinez

Memorial services for Guadalupe “Lupe” Godinez, 63, Lawrence, will be 10 a.m. Friday, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mrs. Godinez died September 2, 2014 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 9, 1951, in Lawrence, the daughter of Jesse and Mary Servin Ramirez. She graduated from Lawrence High School.

Mrs. Godinez worked as a teacher’s aide and a homemaker. She enjoyed artwork, crafts, and taking walks.

She married Jerome D. Godinez. He died in 2009.

Survivors include sons, Mario Godinez and wife Carmen of Topeka, Brian Godinez and wife Jennifer of Lawrence, Marc Godinez and wife Heather of La Vista, NE, Brad Godinez and wife Amanda of Olathe; daughter, Jennifer Godinez of Emporia; brothers, Thomas Ramirez Sr. and wife Josephine, Joe Ramirez and wife Lucy, Jessie Ramirez and wife Martha, Mike Ramirez and wife Anita, Richard Ramirez and wife Pam, Gilbert Ramirez; sisters, Clara Bucia, Connie Mendoza and husband Max, Carol Laughead and husband Ted; grandchildren, Jessica Godinez, Olivia Wright, Mario Godinez Jr., Nicholas Godinez, Sibila Godinez, Kristie Godinez, Mercedes Godinez, Jenni Geiss-Hardin, Drew Benton, Marquise Godinez, Sierra Godinez, Diego Godinez, Gage Godinez, Caliann Godinez; six great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a sister in law, Josephine, widow of Fred Ramirez.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Jesus Ramirez her brothers Fred and Daniel Ramirez and her Sister Carmen Orneales. Also her Grandchildren Tyler, Jacob, Cadence and Courtney Godinez.

Robert D. ‘Bob’ Anderson

Memorial services for Bob Anderson will be held on Friday, September 12, Trinity Episcopal Church, Lawrence, KS, at 4:00 pm.

Mr. Anderson died on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Menorah Medical Center.

Bob was born on April 8, 1951 in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Raymond and Hazel Anderson. He graduated from Lawrence High School and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from Drury College. After college Bob moved to Missoula, Montana and started a construction business, Northwoods Building and Maintenance. In 1982, Bob returned to Lawrence to join the family business, Anderson Rentals. In 1988, Bob became president of Anderson Rentals. In 1994 Bob married Betsi Caldwell of St Louis, Missouri. The couple made their home together in Lawrence Kansas.

Bob was an active member of the American Rental Association participating on various committees and served as Vice President in 2003. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and archery. Bob was a licensed hunting guide and worked for outfitter, Mike Smith in Montana. He was also a Boy Scout leader, a member of the Lawrence Lions Club, Topeka Bow Hunters Association, recently joined the Cowboy Action Shooters Club and Single Action Shooting Society under the moniker of “Rowdy Tymes” 

Bob is survived by his wife, Betsi Anderson, step children, Brian Caldwell and Elizabeth Taylor, step grandson Sullivan Caldwell, siblings, Jane Anderson, Mary Anderson, and William Anderson. His sister Gayle Birdsong died in 2010. Other survivors include his nieces and nephews, Nancy Birkenmeier, Meghan Birdsong, Katherine Anderson, and William (Andy) Anderson.

Betty Dowlene Baumgart

A graveside inurnment service for Betty Dowlene Baumgart, 67, Lawrence, will be 10 am Wed. Aug. 27th at Hardy Oak Cemetery in Jefferson County.

Betty passed away August 24, 2014, at Tonganoxie Nursing Center, after a Short Illness.

She was born November 14, 1946, in Altus, Arkansas the daughter of Dow and Mary Ellen Rickard Williams. She Graduated from Lawrence High School. Betty Worked for Krogers, Mercantile Bank and Checkers.

Betty married Max Baumgart. They later divorced. He survives of Oskaloosa.

Other survivors include two grandsons, Raymond Max Baumgart III, Lecompton and Justin Jay Baumgart Wellman, De Soto; brother David William, Altus, AK; sisters Carolyn Casebier, Oskaloosa, Doris Farrier, Altus, AR; and many nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Doyle Williams, and only son Raymond Max Baumgart Jr.
