A celebration of the life of Aneita F. Burton, 68, Lawrence, will be held at Wayne & Larry’s on April 14, 2018, from 4 pm – 9 pm.
Aneita passed away Friday, Mar. 9, 2018, at her home, following a short battle with cancer.
She was born Feb. 13, 1950, in Walla Walla, Wash., the daughter of Walter and Irene LaRue Freeman. She attended schools in Mountain Grove, Mo. Aneita was the owner and operator of Aneita’s Alterations & Sew Forth for 28 years. She and her husband also volunteered at Clinton Lake Campground for 20 years. She enjoyed camping, travel, brew fests, Pokémon Go hunting, and KU basketball. She was a member of the Lawrence Brewer’s Guild, and a past member of the International Association of Firefighters Local 1596 Ladies Auxiliary.
Aneita married Robert C. ‘Bob’ Burton on October 1, 1983 at Danforth Chapel on the University of Kansas campus. He survives of the home. Other survivors include four children, James Byerley, Lawrence, Kenneth Byerley (Misty Eaton), Perry, David Burton (Susan), Manhattan, and Robert Burton, Lawrence; nine siblings, Tarry Freeman (Bette), Alamo, Tex., Vance Freeman (Vickie Vormehr), Lawrence, Dean Freeman, Lawrence, Alfred Freeman (Cheryl), McLouth, Wanda Salierno (Richard), Lawrence, Leonard Freeman (Tina), Lawrence, Mary Besser (Gordon), Oskaloosa, Bill Freeman, Ottawa, and Angie Freeman, Lawrence; eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
