Funeral Services for Archie Jameson, 97, Lawrence, will be 1 pm, Sat., April 22, 2023, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12-1. Graveside to follow at Eudora City Cemetery.
He died April 18, 2023, at his home.
Archie was born the son of David & Pearl Jameson on June 4th, 1925, in Pittsburg, Kansas. He attended Pittsburg schools and graduated with the class of 1942 from Pittsburg Senior High.
He moved to Eudora and worked at Sunflower Plant then married Doris Bohnsack on January 1st, 1947. In 1959 he founded Jameson Oil Company as a petroleum distributor for Phillips 66 company and, later, Conoco until his retirement in 1982. At that time he started the Jameco Accordion Service where he became nationally known for buying, selling, and repairing accordions. He was an accomplished player and entertained locally. He was a member of the Don Lipovac Accordion Club Band of Kansas City.
Archie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence. Past charter member of Eudora Lions club, Eudora CPA organization, board of directors of the Kansas Oil Marketers Association. He was also a past member of the Benevolent Order of the Elks in Lawrence and a 72+ year member of the Eudora I.O.O.F Lodge #42.
Doris preceded him in death on July 29th, 2005. He was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Jameson, Lawrence, in 1999, and three brothers Charles, Melvin and Earl.
Survivors include a son Jay Jameson, Lawrence, two grandchildren Jim Jameson and wife Anissa, Deneise Ousdahl and husband Chris, three great grandchildren and one brother Allen.
