Arthur Robert “Bob” Mull

Memorial services for Arthur Robert “Bob” Mull, 88, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory, with the Revs. Bob Giffin and Don Dunn officiating.

Mr. Mull died Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Apr. 17, 1923, in Lawrence, the son of Charles Coleman and Mabel Marguerite King Mull. He attended Liberty Memorial High School, and later served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, landing in Guadalcanal in Aug. 1942.

Mr. Mull was a brakeman for the Union Pacific Railroad, and retired in 1982 after 42 years of service. He was a member of First Nazarene Church, and Alford-Clarke Post #852 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed reading, music, playing the harmonica, genealogy, and spending time with family.

He married Wanda R. Sweet on Sept. 15, 1944, in Hutchinson. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Roy Mull, Perry, and Chris Mull and wife Chrisy, Merriam; two daughters, Roxie Lyle and husband Jonathan, Merriam, and Heather Mull, Lawrence; a sister, Marion Vausbinder, Newbury Park, Calif.; ten grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
